Affected patients have acantosis nigricans, corneal opacities, mental retardation, hirsutism and accelerated growth and maturation. We report the musculoskeletal findings of a case of acquired lipodystrophy with symmetrical involvement of appendicular skeleton. Although more than 500 cases with various types of lipodistrophy have been reported there is little emphasis on the musculoskeletal manifestations. © 2004 Elsevier Ireland Ltd.
