The residual stress values of the samples, which were exposed to burnishing procedure in CNC milling machine by using simple equipment and different operational parameters, were determined via X-ray diffraction method. After the burnishing, compressive residual stresses were observed in all the surfaces. The residual stress on the samples was found to be related with operational parameters such as travelling distance, burnishing depth, stepover, and pass number, as well as the cutting direction applied on surface before burnishing and the lubricant used during the procedure. The heat treatment was modeled in 2D by using numerical analysis software, and the residual stress values were determined in relation with the changes in travelling distance and burnishing depth. The residual stresses originating from the production of part were not entered into the software, and the part was considered tempered. For this reason, it was determined that the values obtained from numerical analysis method and those obtained from measurements were not similar to each other but the operation parameters' effects were similar to measurement results.TurkishSTEELDIFFRACTIONExamining the Residual Stress on the Burnished AA7075-T6 Aluminum AlloyArticle
