Seventy-five diabetic patients and 45 sex- and age-matched healthy controls were evaluated audiologically. Patients were classified into groups by severity of retinopathy: group 1 (n=28), no retinopathy, group 2 (n=4), background retinopathy; and group 3 (n=23), proliferative or end-stage retinopathy. Diabetics had a statistically significant difference at all frequencies of hearing loss, as compared with controls.Relationship of retinopathy and hearing loss in type 2 diabetes mellitusArticle10.1007/s12009-002-0026-4
