    Meta analysis of the relationship between supply chain integration dimensions and firm performance

    Supply chain integration (SCI) is regarded as a developing and an important topic. Therefore a deep examination of research related to SCI is vital for further awareness. With this manner, this study aims to show how supply chain integration influences firm performance with using the method of meta analysis. SCI is examined as a whole and under four dimensions which are internal, customer, supplier and information integration. Firm performance is also studied as a whole and under two types which are operational and business performance. According to the results customer integration positively influences operational performance and internal integration positively influences business performance. In every relationship tested there are moderator factors, which probably hinders to fling positive association between SCI and performance as single constructs. © EuroJournals, Inc. 2012.

    A methodological approach to reduce the impacts of risk in the erp projects: Fuzzy quality function deployments

    This paper presents a model proposed for ERP risk management. This model firstly identifies the most influential ERP risks, then it aims to identify preventive activities to reduce the impacts of these risks. ERP embodies some risks arising from installation and post implementation. Proposed model is a revised version of Quality Deployment Model with a fuzzy set theory. A QFD matrix includes inputs which are generally linguistic variables. To measure the linguistic variables, the fuzzy set theory is used. The model is applied to a company that works in the automotive industry. According to the results, incorrect data is a severe problem. Management and guidance in ERP system seems the most important preventive action to avoid the risks. © 2012 EuroJournals Publishing, Inc.

    The knowledge and considerations of the physicians regarding the inhaler devices in asthma and COPD: the INTEDA-1 study Introduction: The present paper was aimed at indicating and discussing the possible problems related to inhaler devices by considering the knowledge and practices of the physicians regarding the inhalation therapies. Materials and Methods: The present study is a prospective, cross-sectional survey carried out by Turkish Respiratory Society Inhalation Therapy Group between February 2010 and February 2011 with a participation of ten individual centres. Seven inhaler devices that were available on the market in the country were assessed. The data on the problems that 684 clinicians actively attending patients with respiratory disorders experienced in daily clinical practice or their evaluations of their patients were obtained through the questionnaire. Results: The respondents, most of whom were pulmonologist (37.5%), and pediatrist (38.1%), had been,on average, 11.6 years in profession. The source of information on inhalers and administration techniques were reported to be mainly the internet and patient leaflets. Of the participants only 18.5% reported to have had adequate knowledge of inhaler devices and proper administration techniques. Most of the participants stated that they themselves provided the instructions of administration and that the method was often verbal explanation. The physicians believed that although approximately 60% of the patients used the drug correctly, 40.7% made critical mistakes to have adverse effects on the therapeutic outcome. The most important criteria on which the physians lay greater emphasis in choosing the inhaler devices were the physical capability, skills and age of the patients. Conclusion: The awareness of proper use of inhaler devices is a fundamental prerequisite for effective inhalation therapy has been improved in physicians. The results of the present study have shown that more effort is required for professional training. Assisting the physicans with medical personnel for training of the patients and educational motivation are required.

    Because of innovations and improvements in technology, the use of smartphones that make it easier for users to work has become widespread. At this point, companies can reach their customers more easily and can communicate continuously. Once mobile applications are created, the system infrastructure needs to be improved in response to changing needs and demands to actively retain registered users and continually capture their insights. In this case, a dynamic framework that will create user profiles in a mobile application and provide services according to different user needs. In this study, the main features of the mobile interaction management applications on the market and other features they provide to create a loyal user base have been evaluated using the Systematic Literature Review (SLI) method and the necessary gaps have been discussed. In order to acquire loyal mobile-app user, Machine Learning support system is proposed as solution. © 2017 IEEE.

    Long-Term Omalizumab Treatment: A Multicenter, Real-Life, 5-Year Trial

    Background: Omalizumab has demonstrated therapeutic benefits both in controlled clinical trials and real-life studies. However, research concerning the long-term effects and tolerability of omalizumab is needed. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and tolerability of treatment with omalizumab for up to 5 years. Methods: A multicenter, retrospective, chart-based study was carried out to compare documented exacerbations, hospitalizations, systemic steroid requirement, FEV1, and asthma control test (ACT) results during 1 year prior to omalizumab treatment versus at 1, 3, and 5 years of treatment. Adverse events and reasons for discontinuation were also recorded at each time point. Results: Four hundred and sixty-five patients were enrolled in the study. Outcome variables had improved after the 1st year and were sustained after the 3rd and 5th years of treatment with omalizumab. Omalizumab treatment reduced the asthma exacerbation rate by 71.3% (p < 0.001) at 1 year, 64.3% (p < 0.001) at 3 years, and 54.8% (p = 0.002) at 5 years. The hospitalization rate also decreased; by the 5th year of the treatment no patients were hospitalized. ACT results had also improved significantly: 12 (p < 0.001) at 1 year, 12 (p < 0.001) at 3 years, and 12 (p = 0.002) at 5 years. Overall, 12.7% of patients reported adverse events (most of these were mild-to-moderate) and the overall dropout rate was 9.0%. Conclusion: Omalizumab had a significant effect on asthma outcomes and this effect was maintained over 5 years. The drug was found to be generally safe and treatment compliance was good. © 2018 S.     Optimal design of the type III hydrogen storage tank for different carbon/epoxy materials by modified differential evolution method

    In this study, the main objective is to minimize the failure index of a cylindrical laminated composite hydrogen storage tank under internal pressure. The first step is to obtain the distribution of stress components based on Classical Laminated Plate Theory (CLPT). The second is to evaluate the burst pressure of the tank according to three different first ply failure criteria and then to compare the results with the experimental and numerical ones from literature. In the final part of the study, the best possible combination of winding angles, stacking sequences and thicknesses of laminates satisfying minimum possible stress concentration will be obtained for different Carbon/Epoxy materials by Differential Evolution Method. The stress components and, the burst pressures reached according to Hashin-Rotem, Maximum Stress, and Tsai-Wu first-ply failure criteria, have been complied with experimental and numerical results in the literature for Type III pressure vessels. Manufacturable Type-III tank designs have been proposed satisfying the 35 MPa burst pressure for different Carbon/Epoxy materials. © 2019 MIM Research Group. All rights reserved.

    Optimum design of anti-buckling behavior of graphite/epoxy laminated composites by differential evolution and simulated annealing method

    Stacking sequence design and optimization of 64 layered symmetric-balance graphite/epoxy laminated composite have been performed. The optimization problems aim to find the optimum stacking sequence maximizing the critical buckling load by single objective optimization approach. Differential Evolution (DE) and Simulated Annealing (SA) optimization algorithms are proposed to solve the problems. The effect of the aspect ratios (a/b) and in-plane biaxial compressive loading ratios (Nx/Ny) on critical buckling load are investigated. In order to see the effect of discrete increments of fiber orientation angle on critical buckling load, 1°, 5°, 15°, 30° and 45° fiber angle increments are also considered. The results show that (i) the proposed algorithms DE and SA exhibit comparable performance in terms of critical buckling load when compared Genetic algorithm (GA) and Generalized pattern search algorithm (GPSA), (ii) DE and SA find distinct stacking sequence configurations in terms of buckling load for the same laminated structure design problems. © 2019 MIM Research Group.     Notes on the thermal habitat: Thirteen new records for the freshwater algal flora of Turkey

    Thermal springs are extreme environments for organisms. Cyanobacteria are the group that adapts with success in these environments where there is little diversity of life. In this study, eight different thermal water springs were studied in Kütahya province. Thirteen cyanobacteria taxa were identified as new records for the freshwater algal flora of Turkey.     Experience with Real-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Newborns with Congenital Hyperinsulinemic Hypoglycemia

    Background Effective treatment and close monitoring of hypoglycemia in children with congenital hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia (CHH) is vital to prevent brain damage. The current use of capillary sampling schedules does not provide a comprehensive assessment of glycemic status and fails to detect asymptomatic hypoglycemia episodes. Aim To investigate the efficacy and accuracy of a real-time continuous glucose monitoring system (RT-CGMS) in neonates with CHH. Methods A sensor connected to RT-CGMS was inserted into the newborn patients and maintained for at least 6 days during their stay in the hospital. We compared the readings of CGMS with capillary blood glucose values using Bland-Altman analysis. Results A total of 110 blood glucose values were compared to readings from the CGMS. All results were calculated and plotted for CGMS values at 0-4, 5-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, and 25-29 min after capillary blood glucose sampling. CGMS readings were highly correlated with blood glucose values, especially during normoglycemia. In case of hypoglycemia, the mean difference between the CGMS and capillary glucose values was higher. Although the false positive rate for hypoglycemia was relatively high in CGMS, RT-CGMS may show some episodes of hypoglycemia earlier than blood measurement. Conclusion RT-CGMS is accurate during normoglycemia, and it can reduce the number of capillary blood samples in children with CHH. © 2021 Georg Thieme Verlag. All rights reserved.

    Background: The discovery of anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG)-IgG and anti-aquaporin 4 (AQP4)-IgG and the observation on certain patients previously diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) actually have an antibody-mediated disease mandated re-evaluation of pediatric MS series. Aim: To describe the characteristics of recent pediatric MS cases by age groups and compare with the cohort established before 2015. Method: Data of pediatric MS patients diagnosed between 2015 and 2021 were collected from 44 pediatric neurology centers across Türkiye. Clinical and paraclinical features were compared between patients with disease onset before 12 years (earlier onset) and ≥12 years (later onset) as well as between our current (2015–2021) and previous (<2015) cohorts. Results: A total of 634 children (456 girls) were enrolled, 89 (14%) were of earlier onset. The earlier-onset group had lower female/male ratio, more frequent initial diagnosis of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), more frequent brainstem symptoms, longer interval between the first two attacks, less frequent spinal cord involvement on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and lower prevalence of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)-restricted oligoclonal bands (OCBs). The earlier-onset group was less likely to respond to initial disease-modifying treatments. Compared to our previous cohort, the current series had fewer patients with onset <12 years, initial presentation with ADEM-like features, brainstem or cerebellar symptoms, seizures, and spinal lesions on MRI. The female/male ratio, the frequency of sensorial symptoms, and CSF-restricted OCBs were higher than reported in our previous cohort. Conclusion: Pediatric MS starting before 12 years was less common than reported previously, likely due to exclusion of patients with antibody-mediated diseases. The results underline the importance of antibody testing and indicate pediatric MS may be a more homogeneous disorder and more similar to adult-onset MS than previously thought. © 2022 European Paediatric Neurology Society

    Observation of Marine Areas (Çandarlı and Gökova Bays) and Their Biodiversity

    This study aimed to investigate to determine the number and biodiversity of species (especially seaweed populations) in the Çandarlı and Gökova Bays. Çandarlı and Gökova Bays are defined as "Special Environmental Protection Area (SEPA)" by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, Special Environmental Protection Agency Presidency. For this purpose, in the study, i) description of habitats and facies in the studied areas, ii) determination of the number and diversity of species, iii) retrieval of underwater photo recordings, operations were carried out. The approach of collecting these data in such a way as to make comparisons and comments, especially for the future, has been followed. The literature shows that the existing ecological conditions and habitat characteristics of the areas restricted to SEPA and fisheries are studied. Thus, a comprehensive database is developed that will be extremely useful in terms of future works. On the other hand, the studies carried out are particularly inadequate for marine algae (macroalgae) in the related areas. As a result of the study, a total of 316 taxa were identified and observed, including 192 marine algae (20 Cyanobacteria, 54 Phaeophyceae, 93 Rhodophyta, 25 Chlorophyta), 3 seagrasses, 70 invertebrates (9 Porifera, 13 Cnidaria, 2 Annelida, 19 Mollusca, 16 Arthropoda, 10 Echinodermata, 2 Tunicata) and 51 fish (2 Chondrichthyes, 49 Osteichthyes). © 2022, Sakarya University.     Taxonomic and ecological characteristics of algal assemblage in four geothermal springs of Odisha, India, including some new records

    The present investigation conveys a unique diversity of cyanobacteria and eukaryotic algae from Atri, Taptapani, Tarabalo and Deulajhari geothermal springs of Odisha, India. The study revealed a floristic account of 48 taxa belonging to 39 cyanoprokaryotes, 5 diatoms, 2 charophytes and 1 each from desmids and euglenoids. One exciting record showed Jaaginema geminatum, as the most dominant cyanobacteria from euthermophilous and mesothermophilous communities. The cyanoprokaryotes, Romeria chlorina, Isocystis messanensis, Trichormus thermalis, Geitlerinema jasorvense and Westiellopsis indica were newly reported from the study area. Interestingly, Isocystis messanensis is newly added to the Indian flora. The physicochemical analysis of the spring water showed high sodium (97.72 mg/L) and calcium (5.5 mg/L) in Deulajhari, whereas high magnesium (0.8 mg/L) in Taptapani. While nitrate and phosphate were high in Deulajhari and Atri hot springs, Tarabalo has the highest sulfate content. While nitrate and phosphate content was high in Deulajhari and Atri hot springs, Tarabalo has the highest sulfate content. The Kruskal-Wallis test was applied to see the differences in the physicochemical parameters of the four geothermal springs, and significant differences were found at the bicarbonate value (HCO3). Temperature variations in four thermal springs suggested the presence of euthermophilic and mesothermophilic species. The pH of the four water bodies was moderately basic. In addition, four geothermal springs were compared in terms of anions and cations using the Piper diagram, and it was determined that they showed Na+-K+-HCO3-properties. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was performed under the CANOCO software to determine the statistical correlation between species and physicochemical parameters. As a result of the PCA, the total variation was 36.2500; the first axis explained 36.84% of the variance. The distribution pattern of all the species found in the four thermal springs has also been studied. A morphotaxonomic study was conducted with the help of microphotographs and line drawings. © 2022 by the authors.

    Taxonomic and Ecological Aspects of Thermophilic Cyanobacteria from Some Geothermal Springs of Jharkhand and Bihar, India

    IN the present research, we have highlighted the taxonomic and ecological aspects of cyanobacteria, identified from some less-explored geothermal springs of Jharkhand and Bihar in India, with respect to water temperature variations and other physicochemical parameters, which is still an understudied topic. In total, twenty six different cyanoprokaryotes were identified. Based on our observations, the Chatra hot spring of Jharkhand area was found to be rich in cyanobacterial diversity where eight different taxa were reported. Among the recorded taxa, Geitlerinema amphibium, Komvophoron cf. schmidlei, K. jovis and Leptolyngbya granulifera are rare cyanobacterial species with a limited geographical distribution inhabiting the Indian springs based on the previous studies and available literature on the hot springs of India. The correlation of the cyanobacterial species identified and water parameters was studied by redundancy analysis (RDA) under CANOCO 5.0. Moreover, sampling stations were added in the RDA analysis. As a result of the RDA, the total variation was 23,83333, and it is seen that the first two axes explain 47.39% of the total variance. RDA analysis results showed that values of pH, sulfate, and sodium ions were the most effective water factors affecting the distribution of the cyanobacterial taxa identified. Though the water temperature is an important factor controlling the distribution of cyanobacterial taxa inhabiting the thermal water habitats, it was not among the most important abiotic drivers according to the RDA analysis in this work. © 2023 National Information and Documentation Center (NIDOC).

    The taxonomy and distribution of algae in the thermal springs of Türkiye

    – The algal flora and physio-chemical parameters of seven thermal springs in Denizli were studied for the first time. Samples for algal analyses were taken monthly between May 2013 and June 2014, while the physio-chemical parameters were measured seasonally. The mean pH value of the thermal springs was 6.3, and temperatures varied between 34–60 °C. The significant differences (P < 0.001) among the thermal springs were in their temperature and pH, as well as concentration of Cl–, Fe2+, K+, Mg2+, Na+, Li+, Ca2+, HCO3–, and SO4 2– ions. A total of 43 Cyanobacteria and three Bacillariophyta taxa were determined. The most common taxon was Spirulina subsalsa Oersted ex Gomont, sam-pled from five sampling sites. According to the principal component analysis (PCA), the most important determining factor for the algae was temperature, followed by concentration of K+ and Cl– ions. © 2024, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb.     Extremophilic Algae-Based Wastewater Treatment, Nutrient Recovery, and Animal Feed Production

    Microalgae and cyanobacteria have the potential application in the treatment of wastewater from the past decades. Due to urbanization and continuous demand of industrial products, getting desired strain for mass cultivation has become more challenging nowadays. Extremophilic algae including cyanobacteria and eukaryotic algae have taken advantage to fight against environmental stressors as they are resistant to heavy metals and toxic chemicals present in wastewater. On the other hand, extremophilic algae can grow in adverse situations such as high temperature, alkaline or acidic conditions, and metal contamination. In this study, we provide the role of extremophilic algae in the treatment of different wastewater, nutrient removal, and animal feed production in a biorefinery approach.
