Calculation of two neutrino double beta decay nuclear matrix elements for 128,130Te
    (2006) Ünlü S.; Salamov D.I.; Babacan T.; Küçükbursa A.
Based on Pyatov-Salamov method, spin-isospin (Gamow-Teller) effective interaction strength parameter has been found self-consistently. Then, the problem has been solved within the framework of QRPA. Gamow-Teller matrix elements for both β- and β+ transitions and two neutrino double beta decay nuclear matrix elements have been calculated for 128,130Te→128,130Xe transitions. The obtained results have been compared with the corresponding experimental data and other theoretical results. © 2006 American Institute of Physics.

The isospin admixture of the ground state and the properties of the isobar analog resonances in medium and heavy mass nuclei
    (2006) Salamov D.I.; Babacan T.; Kücükbursa A.; Ünlü S.; Maras I.
Within the framework of quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA), Pyatov-Salamov method [23] for the self-consistent determination of the isovector effective interaction strength parameter, restoring a broken isotopic symmetry for the nuclear part of the Hamiltonian, is used. The isospin admixtures in the ground state of the parent nucleus, and the isospin structure of the isobar analog resonance (IAR) state were investigated with the inclusion of the pairing correlations between nucleons for the medium and heavy mass regions: 80 < A < 90, 102 < A < 124, and 204 < A < 214. It was determined that the influence of the pairing interaction between nucleons on the isospin admixtures in the ground state and the isospin structure of the IAR. state is more pronounced for the light isotopes (N ≈ Z) of the investigated nuclei. © Indian Academy of Sciences.

The study of dependence of the radial parts of 0-→0 + first forbidden β-decay matrix elements on the parameters in Woods-saxon potential
(Association for Scientific Research, 2008) Kenar I.; Ünlü S.; Maraş I.
In this paper, O-→0+ first forbidden β-decay matrix elements have been calculated. For 206-214Pb→206-214Bi transitions relativistic M ±(ρA,λ=0) and nonrelativistic M±(jA, k=1,λ=0)) matrix elements have been calculated. In this calculations, the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of Schrodinger equation solved by the more realistic Woods-Saxon potential have been used. The dependence of the radial parts in the matrix elements on the parameters (r0: the radii of nucleus, η: isovector parameter, rc: Coulomb radius and χ diffusion parameter) of Woods-Saxon potentialhas been investigated. © Association for Scientific Research.

Left Atrial Coupling Index Predicts Heart Failure in Patients with End Stage Renal Disease
(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2024) Avcı Demir F.; Bingöl G.; Uçar M.; Özden Ö.; Özmen E.; Tüner H.; Nasifov M.; Ünlü S.
Background and Objectives: We aimed to ascertain the predictive power of the left atrial coupling index (LACI) in patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective study including 100 subjects between 18 and 65 years of age with ESRD and not on dialysis treatment. Patients were divided into groups with and without HFpEF. The LACI was defined as the ratio of the left atrial volume index (LAVI) to the a′ wave in tissue Doppler imaging (TDI). Statistical analyses were performed, including univariate and multivariate regression analyses. Results: The mean age of the participants was 47 ± 13.3 years. Individuals with HFpEF exhibited a higher LACI. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses demonstrated that the predictive capacity of the LACI for HFpEF was considerably higher than that of the LAVI and other echocardiographic parameters. Conclusions: Higher LACI levels were consistently related to the presence of HFpEF in ESRD patients. The LACI can be easily obtained in daily practice using conventional Doppler echocardiographic measurements during left atrial functional assessments. © 2024 by the authors.

Background: Surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis (SAP) is the peri-operative administration of antimicrobial agents. Compliance rates vary worldwide from 15% to 84.3%, with studies in Turkey not exceeding 35%. The aim of this multicenter study was to determine the rate of appropriate antibiotic class, timing, and duration as well as discharge prescriptions in Turkey. Thus, we aimed to determine the rate of full compliance with SAP procedures in our country Patients and Methods: This multicenter, prospective, observational, descriptive study was conducted in 47 hospitals from 28 provinces in seven different regions of Turkey. Patients over 18 years of age in all surgical units between June 6, 2022, and June 10, 2022, were included in the study. Results: Of the 7,978 patients included in the study, 332 were excluded from further analyses because of pre-existing infection, and SAP compliance analyses were performed on the remaining 7,646 cases. The antibiotic most commonly used for SAP was cefazolin (n = 4,701; 61.5%), followed by third-generation cephalosporins (n = 596; 7.8%). The most common time to start SAP was within 30 minutes before surgery (n = 2,252; 32.5%), followed by 30 to 60 minutes before surgery (n = 1,638; 23.6%). Surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis duration was <24 hours in 3,516 (50.7%) patients and prolonged until discharge in 1,505 (21.7%) patients. Finally, the actual proportion of patients compliant with SAP was 19% (n = 1,452) after omitting 4,458 (58.3%) patients who were prescribed oral antibiotic agents at discharge as part of a prolonged SAP. Conclusions: Surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis compliance rates are still very low in Turkey. Prolonged duration of SAP and especially high rate of antibiotic prescription at discharge are the main reasons for non-compliance with SAP. Copyright 2024, Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers.
