The world has become increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) during and post COVID-19. Managers are required to possess agile leadership to facilitate their employees’ successful careers. Therefore, this study aims to find out the relationship between agile leadership and career success by examining the mediation of job embeddedness in healthcare organizations. The descriptive research design and survey method were employed in this study. The data were collected by using three scales from healthcare employees in healthcare organizations in Turkey. Hypotheses were tested using structural equation modelling (SEM). The data were analysed by using SPSS and AMOS programs. The findings of this study showed that agile leadership behaviours enhance career success. Moreover, the relationship between agile leadership and career success is mediated by job embeddedness. The role of agile leadership in promoting employees’ career success has rarely been studied in the literature. In this study, the foreign direct investment variable is used as a share in GDP, the economic growth variable is reflected by the gross domestic product data in dollars per capita, the carbon emission data are estimated in million tons and renewable energy is calculated in total, as share of primary energy supply. The findings obtained from this study indicated the effect of the related variables on CO2 emissions was statistically significant, the impact of foreign direct investment and economic growth on CO2 emissions was positive, and the impact of renewable energy on CO2 emissions was negative. From the evidences obtained from the results of this study, it is seen that countries should apply policies prompting the utilization of clean and renewable energy sources in their economy in order to achieve sustainable economic growth. Properly designed policies in this direction are of vital importance to decrease carbon release and to enable the switching to low-carbon economy. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature B.V.Item What price Romania has to pay for being one of the main providers of physicians in Europe?(Emerald Publishing, 2024) Apostu S.A.; Akkaya B.Purpose: The migration of physicians is a global interest, causing imbalances between developed and developing countries. Romania is one of Europe's major providers of physicians, not because there is a surplus, but because physicians are drawn to places with better living and working conditions. Medicine in Romania is increasingly highly advanced, and Romanian physicians are well appreciated all over the world. Despite being one of the countries with the most medical graduates in the world, Romania is suffering a doctor exodus. After joining the EU, the problem of physician migration became widespread, resulting in a deficient and inefficient healthcare system. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to estimate the losses registered by Romania because of physicians' decision to migrate. Design/methodology/approach: These losses were calculated in two ways: utilizing the statistical life value and the amount of money invested in training a medical graduate. Findings: According to the findings, the losses in 2018 were 104.16 million euros, approximately 0.12% of GDP. Originality/value: The originality of this paper consists in data, being provided by the College of Physicians from Romania and the method used, this study being the only one that estimates the cost of Romanian physicians' migration. The paper adds to existing knowledge an empirical results regarding quantifying the value reflecting the departure of physicians, using value of statistical life and the amount of money invested in preparing a medical graduate. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.
