    CYTOGENETIC EFFECTS OF 48TITANIUM (48TI) ON MERISTEMATIC CELLS OF ROOT TIPS OF LENS CULINARIS MED.

    Cytogenetic effects of (48)Titanium (Ti-48) on meristematic cells of root tips belonging to the plant (Lens culinaris Medik.) have been Investigated. Seeds of the plant, prepared were kept in Ti-48 standart for different time period as control during 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 hours. Seeds treated with Ti-48 were made sprout and the root tips obtained were prepared for microscopic examination. At the end of the microscopic examinations, some abnormalities as chromosome breakings, chromosome dispersion, bridge chromosome, chromosome adherence, ring chromosome were observed. Abnormalities were seen at each treatment depended on the time periods. Variety and number of abnormality were usually seen to be increasing, depending on the increase of treatment time. The results obtained were evaluated statistically.

    Cytological study the genus Chesneya Lindl. (Fabaceae) in Turkey

    In the present research, karyotype and meiotic analysis of Chesneya Lindl. species of Turkey were performed. The chromosome numbers and karyotype analysis of the species were here reported for the first time from Turkey. The chromosomes number determined are Chesneya rytidosperma Jaub. & Spach and Chesneya elegans Fomin 2n = 2x = 16.

    KARYOLOGICAL STUDIES ON SOME PHLOMIS L TAXA (LAMIACEAE)

    In present study the chromosome number and morphology of some species of the genus Phlomis Linnaeus (Lamiaceae) were investigated using karyological techniques. The seeds of Phlomis grandiflora H. S. Thompson, var. grandiflora and Phlomis lunariifolia Sm. were collected from natural habitats. The chromosome numbers were determined for all species as 2n = 20. The chromosome numbers and karyotype analysis of the species were here reported for the first time from Turkey.

    A karyological study on taxa of Coronopus DC section of Plantago L. genus (Plantaginaceae) in Turkey

    In this study the chromosome number and morphology of five taxa of the Coronopus D.C. section - Plantago coronopus subsp. coronopus L., P. coronopus subsp. commutata (GUSS.) PLGER, P. crassifolia FORSSKAL, P. maritima L., and P. holosteum SCOP. (Plantaginaceae) - in Turkey were investigated using karyological techniques. The seeds of taxa were collected from natural habitats. The chromosome numbers are determined for four taxa (P. coronopus subsp. coronopus, P. coronopus subsp. commutata, P. crassifolia and P. maritima) as 2n = 4x =20 and one taxon (P. holosteum) as 2n = 2x = 12. The chromosome numbers and karyotype analysis of the species are reported for the first time for Turkey.

    A New Staining Method for Hand-Cut in Plant Anatomy Studies

    In this study, a new double staining method that provide clearly to identify tissues in making preparations by hand-cut of Plant samples were fixed with alcohol has been developed. This new method can be provides practicality and certainty in terms of distinguishing the tissues and can be used for hand-cut. In this' method, double staining consist of safranin and fast green can be used in both monocotyledons and dicotyledons and can be stored at room temperature for a long time without spoiling. Photographs of the anatomical sections is used this method was taken and tissues was demonstrated.

    Cytogenetic effects of C6H4(CH3)2 (xylene) on meristematic cells of root tips of Vicia faba L. and mathematical analysis

    Xylene is a readily flammable and poisonous liquid with a chemical formula of C6H4(CH3)(2). It is used as raw material or auxiliary raw material in many industrial products such as dye, pencil, agricultural chemicals, rubber, fiber, glue and diaper. In this study, cytogenetic effects of xylene, on the meristematic cells of root tips of V. faba L. used as food have been investigated. For this purpose, the seeds of the plant have been treated with xylene solutions prepared in different concentrations for different time periods. Chromosomes at the root tips have been looked and the effect of xylene has been determined. The abnormalities as chromosome breaking, chromosome dispersion, bridge chromosome, chromosome adherence, ring chromosome have been observed. Abnormalities have been seen at each treatment depended on the time periods. In addition to these visible damages of xylene in the study, possible damages on chromosomes carrying genetic codes of living beings to future generations have been investigated and mathematical analyzes has been made. The results obtained have been evaluated statistically.

    Cytogenetic effects of 99technetium on meristematic cells of root tips of Vicia faba L. andstatistical comparison

    In this study, cytogenetic effects of (99)technetium (Tc-99) on meristematic cells of root tips belonging to Vicia faba L. have been investigated. Seeds of the plant were prepared and kept in Tc-99 standard for different time periods: 1/12, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 12 h. Seeds treated with Tc-99 were sprouted and the root tips obtained were prepared for microscopic examination. Some abnormalities e.g. chromosome breaking, chromosome dispersion, bridge chromosomes, chromosome adherence and ring chromosomes were observed. Abnormalities seen for each treatment depended on the time period. The variety and number of abnormalities usually increased with increased treatment time. The results obtained were evaluated statistically.

    STUDIES ON THE MORPHOLOGY, ANATOMY AND ECOLOGY OF OPHRYS LUTEA CAV. SUBSP MINOR (GUSS.) O. DANESCH & E. DANESCH EX GOLZ & HR REINHARD (ORCHIDACEAE) IN TURKEY

    In this study, morphological, anatomical and ecological characteristics of Ophrys lutea subsp. minor in Turkey were investigated. The plant material was collected from 30 different populations during 2010-2013. In all 19 morphological and 20 anatomical features were investigated, and habitat characteristics recorded. The soil samples were also collected from the plant sampling sites and subjected to an analysis for 18 characteristics. The minimum plant length was 69 mm and maximum 323 mm, minimum length of underground part was 29 mm, and maximum 49 mm, and the number of leaves varied between 1-10. The ecological characteristics revealed that O. lutea subsp. minor flourishes well from sea level to 800 m, and the most common habitats of O. lutea subsp. minor are rocky limestones, phrygana, macchie, olive gorves, woodland margins.

    A GEOMETRIC MODELING OF TRACHEAL ELEMENTS OF THE CHARD (Beta vulgaris) LEAF

    In this study, we give a geometric description of the tracheal elements of the chard (Beta vulgaris var. cicla L.). which is a widespread cultivated plant in Turkey. It is used as an edible plant and its leaves are used as antidiabetic in traditional medicine plant. We have shown that the tracheal elements, which are taxonomic value of the plant, can be considered as a surface of revolution or a tubular shape along a special curve.
