Item The morphological and anatomical investigation of two endemic Crocus l. (Iridaceae) species of Turkey(Pakistan Botanical Society, 2014) Akyol Y.; Durmuskahya C.; Kocabaş O.; Pekönür S.; Özdemir C.The paper reports morphological and anatomical features of Crocus asumaniae Mathew and Crocus mathewii Kerndorff et Pasche, endangered plants. Transvers sections of plant parts stem, scape and leaf were investigated. Characteristically, style is dividing into 3 slender yellow to orange branches, flowering takes place in autumn and is hysteranthous. In anatomical studies, the walls of root endodermal cells of both species show thickenings completely and hairs are found on the abaxial epidermis of leaf. Presence of sclerenchymatic tissues around the vascular bundles of the leaf is a characteristic feature.Item Cytogenetic effects of 99technetium on meristematic cells of root tips of Vicia faba L. andstatistical comparison(Taylor and Francis Ltd., 2015) Özdemir A.; Bozdağ B.; Sepet H.; Parlak Y.; Kocabaş O.; Ereeş F.S.; Özdemir C.In this study, cytogenetic effects of 99technetium (99Tc) on meristematic cells of root tips belonging to Vicia faba L. have been investigated. Seeds of the plant were prepared and kept in 99Tc standard for different time periods: 1/12, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 12 h. Seeds treated with 99Tc were sprouted and the root tips obtained were prepared for microscopic examination. Some abnormalities e.g. chromosome breaking, chromosome dispersion, bridge chromosomes, chromosome adherence and ring chromosomes were observed. Abnormalities seen for each treatment depended on the time period. The variety and number of abnormalities usually increased with increased treatment time. The results obtained were evaluated statistically. © 2015 Dipartimento di Biologia Evoluzionistica, Università di Firenze.Item A new staining method for hand-cut in plant anatomy studies; [Bitki anatomisi Çalışmalarında el kesitleri İçin yeni boyama yöntemi](Marmara University, 2016) Bozdağ B.; Kocabaş O.; Akyol Y.; Özdemır C.In this study, a new double staining method that provide clearly to identify tissues in making preparations by hand-cut of plant samples were fixed with alcohol has been developed. This new method can be provides practicality and certainty in terms of distinguishing the tissues and can be used for hand-cut. In this method, double staining consist of safranin and fast green can be used in both monocotyledons and dicotyledons and can be stored at room temperature for a long time without spoiling. Photographs of the anatomical sections is used this method was taken and tissues was demonstrated. © 2016, Marmara University. All Rights Reserved.
