Functionalized bay-substituted perylene diimide additives for inverted organic photovoltaic devices based on P3HT/PCBM
(National Institute of Optoelectronics, 2015) Dinçalp H.; Çmen O.; Murat Saltan G.; Çl S.
The photovoltaic performances of inverted organic solar cells including P3HT:PCBM active layer with perylene diimides (PDIs) substituted with different subunits at bay positions of perylene ring were investigated. The improvement of photoluminescence intensity for P3HT:PCBM blend was achieved by the increase of PDI1 additive amount from 6.6 to 10 wt%. In P3HT:PDI1:PCBM ternary blend, preliminary results obtained from cell measurements indicated that PDI1 dopant has improved the cell efficiency by 38% compared to the control cell. Carrier mobility studies revealed that electron or hole mobility capacities of the perylene additives in ternary blends gave a more detailed explanation for efficiencies both binary and ternary systems.

Fluorene Based Ferric Complex as Colorimetric and Fluorometric Probe for Highly Selective Detection of CN− and S2− Anions
    (Springer, 2021) Murat Saltan G.; Dinçalp H.
A series of new chemosensor molecules bearing benzothiazole-, quinoline- and phthalazine-functionalized fluorene derivatives were synthesized and their complexation behaviors with Fe3+ and Sn2+ ions were investigated. The sensing abilities of their complexes towards both cyanide and sulfide anions were investigated by colorimetric and fluorometric techniques in detail. The sensing mechanism was investigated by Job’s and Scatchard plots evaluations, and also absorption/fluorescence titration experiments. Among the studied dye/metal binary systems, F-BT sensor to Fe3+ giving the detection limits of 3.1 µg has also displayed high selectivity and sensitivity towards CN− and S2− anions, lead to a significant color change of the solution observable by the naked eye. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

Sensing behaviours to Fe3+, Co2+ ions and cyanide detection performance of 4,5-diazafluorene-based colorimetric chemosensors
    (Springer, 2023) Murat Saltan G.
Three novel colorimetric chemosensors were synthesized by Schiff base condensation of 4,5-diazafluoren-9-one with different hydrazine derivatives, which included benzothiazole (DAF-BT), quinoline (DAF-QU) and phthalazine groups (DAF-PHT). Structural characterization was supported by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic spectroscopy (1H-NMR and 13C-NMR) analyses. Photophysical properties of colorimetric chemosensors synthesized in the study were investigated systematically in different solvents of polarities such as chloroform, dichloromethane, acetonitrile, and then their sensing probe activities mainly with Fe+3 and Co+2 ions were evaluated using UV–vis absorption and fluorescence emission spectroscopy. DAF-PHT, DAF-QU and DAF-BT chemosensors absorption maxima between 424 and 492 nm were associated with the intramolecular charge transfer transitions, and metal sensing abilities were also supported by the formation of metal-to-ligand charge transfer transitions. One of the studied complex, sensor DAF-PHT/Co2+, showed highly selective to CN− anion in acetonitrile solution and colour changes could be detected with the naked eye. Preparation of Expanded-Graphite Reinforced Poly(vinyl alcohol)/Polyvinyl pyrrolidone/Poly(acrylic acid-co-maleic acid) hydrogel films, Investigation of Swelling, Metal Adsorption, and Thermal Properties
(Taylor and Francis Ltd., 2023) Saltan F.; Murat Saltan G.
The aim of the study is to demonstrate a simple process of expanded-graphite reinforced Poly(vinyl alcohol)/Polyvinyl pyrrolidone/Poly(acrylic acid-co-maleic acid) (PVA/PVP/P(AA-co-MA)-G) hydrogel composites. Firstly, PVA/PVP/P(AA-co-MA) blend polymer film is prepared. Polymer composite films are obtained by adding expanded graphite (G) at %10, 20%, and 30%. The network structure formed by the mixture of polymers gave the product obtained hydrogel character. The swelling capacities of hydrogel and hydrogel composite films are determined by the “filtration” method. 1. Fick’s law is used to model the swelling behavior of gels. The adsorbents selectively adsorb Cd2+, Cr3+, and Ag+ ions in the metal mixture well. © 2023 Taylor & Francis.
