    Morphological and anatomical investigations of Romulea bulbocodium var. bulbocodium and Romulea bulbocodium var. leichtliniana (Iridaceae)

    In this study, the morphological and anatomical features of Romulea bulbocodium var bulbocodium L. and Romulea bulbocodium (L.) Seb. & Mauri var. leichtliniana (Heldr. ex Hal.) Bég were studied. In the morphological part of the study, features of various organs of the plants such as corm, scape, leaf and flower were determined and illustrated. In anatomical studies, crosssection of the plants root, scape and leaf parts were examined and demonstrated. The anatomical properties of the two varieties were determined to be similar to each other and also to other species of the genus Romulea. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the characteristics of the two taxa evaluating the results obtained from morphological and anatomical investigations.

    Cytological study the genus chesneya lindl. (fabaceae) in turkey

    In the present research, karyotype and meiotic analysis of Chesneya Lindl. species of Turkey were performed. The chromosome numbers and karyotype analysis of the spe cies were here reported for the first time from Turkey.     Morphological, anatomical and ecological studies of Gynandriris sisyrinchium (L.) Parl. in Turkey

    This work is based on morphological, anatomical and ecological studies of Gynandriris sisyrinchium (L.) Parl. each flower of which is lasting only a few hours. The genus Gynandriris is represented by only one taxon, Gynandriris sisyrinchium (syn. Iris sisyrinchium) in Turkey. Anatomical cross-section of the root, stem and leaf of plant is studied and demonstrated. In this study it has been determined that the plant prefers clayeyloamy textured soil, poor in calcium carbonate, being acitic and containing varying amounts of organic matter being very rich in nitrogen. The plant grows on nonsaline soils. The analysis of some elements (N,P,K) was carried out in both above the ground and underground parts of this plant. In addition, analysis of chemical soil composition sample where the plant grows was carried out.

    Karyological studies on eight species of Onobrychis genus in Turkey

    This study used karyological techniques to determine the chromosome numbers and morphology of eight species of Onobrychis L. (O. caput-galli (L.) Lam, O. aequidentata (Sibth. & Sm.) d' Urv, O. fallax Freyn & Sint. var. fallax, O. lasiostachya Boiss, O. viciifolia Scop., O. oxyodonta Boiss. subsp. armena (Bois. & Huet) Aktoklu, O. hypargyrea Boiss. and O. cappadocica Boiss.). The results of this study determined the chromosome numbers of O. cappadocica as 2n = 16; O. viciifolia as 2n = 28 and the other species as 2n = 14 The karyotypes of species consisted of median-centromeric (m) or submedian-centromeric (sm) chromosomes. However, O. oxyodonta Boiss. subsp. armena (Bois. & Huet) Aktoklu was found to have only the median-centromeric (m) chromosomes. According to the results of the present study, of the eight Onobrychis taxa, only O. hypargyrea has a pair of satellite chromosomes (sat-chromosome). Furthermore, this study detected karyotype asymmetry. © 2011 Versita Warsaw and Springer-Verlag Wien.

    Cytogenetic effects of 48titanium (48TI) on meristematic cells of root tips of lens culinaris med

    Cytogenetic effects of 48Titanium (48Ti) on meristematic cells of root tips belonging to the plant (Lens culinaris Medik.) have been Investigated. Seeds of the plant, prepared were kept in 48Ti standart for different time period as control during 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 hours. Seeds treated with 48Ti were made sprout and the root tips obtained were prepared for microscopic examination. At the end of the microscopic examinations, some abnormalities as chromosome breakings, chromosome dispersion, bridge chromosome, chromosome adherence, ring chromosome were observed. Abnormalities were seen at each treatment depended on the time periods. Variety and number of abnormality were usually seen to be increasing, depending on the increase of treatment time. The results obtained were evaluated statistically.

    Karyological studies on some Phlomis L taxa (Lamiaceae)

    In present study the chromosome number and morphology of some species of the genus Phlomis Linnaeus (Lamiaceae) were investigated using karyological techniques. The seeds of Phlomis_grandiflora H.S. Thompson, var. grandiflora and Phlomis lunariifolia Sm.were collected from natural habitats. The chromosome numbers were determined for all species as 2n = 20. The chromosome numbers and karyotype analysis of the species were here reported for the first time from Turkey.

    A karyological study on taxa of Coronopus D.C. section of Plantago L. genus (Plantaginaceae) in Turkey

    In this study the chromosome number and morphology of five taxa of the Coronopus D.C. section – Plantago coronopus subsp. coronopus L., P. coronopus subsp. commutata (GUSS.) PİLGER, P. crassifolia FORSSKAL, P. maritima L., and P. holosteum SCOP. (Plantaginaceae) – in Turkey were investigated using karyological techniques. The seeds of taxa were collected from natural habitats. The chromosome numbers are determined for four taxa (P. coronopus subsp. coronopus, P. coronopus subsp. commutata, P. crassifolia and P. maritima) as 2n = 4x =20 and one taxon (P. holosteum) as 2n = 2x = 12.     In this study, cytogenetic effects of 99technetium (99Tc) on meristematic cells of root tips belonging to Vicia faba L. have been investigated. Seeds of the plant were prepared and kept in 99Tc standard for different time periods: 1/12, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 12 h. Seeds treated with 99Tc were sprouted and the root tips obtained were prepared for microscopic examination. Some abnormalities e.g. chromosome breaking, chromosome dispersion, bridge chromosomes, chromosome adherence and ring chromosomes were observed. Abnormalities seen for each treatment depended on the time period. The variety and number of abnormalities usually increased with increased treatment time.
