Item The Distribution and Heterogeneity of Mast Cells in the Cecum of Quail (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica)Yildiz, M; Aydemir, I; Kum, S; Eren, ÜThe aim of the present study is to investigate the location and heterogeneity of mast cells in quail cecum. Cecum samples were fixed in basic lead acetate (BLA), Carnoy's, isotonic formaldehyde acetic acid (IFAA) and 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF) solutions. The sections were stained with an alcian blue-critical electrolyte concentration (AB-CEC) (pH 5.8, 0.3 M MgCl2) and safranin O (SO) (pH 1.0) used in a combined method and with toluidine blue (TB) (pH 0.5). Mast-cell population was shown in highest ratios in all layers of Carnoy fixed cecum parts within TB-stained sections. Metachromatic mast cell density was determined the most in tunica mucosa layers of the middle and distal cecum. It was seen that AB-CEC (+)/SO (-) mast-cell density was greater in tunica mucosa layers of the proximal and middle cecum in IFAA and BLA fixed tissues campare to Carnoy fixation. At the end of the study; it can be said that Carnoy solution fixed the connective tissue mast cells, as well as IFAA and BLA solutions fixed the mucosal mast cells better.Item Inter and intra-session reliability and validity of the Performanz JumpR device for measuring different jump performances in young male soccer playersSecer, E; Yildiz, M; Ates, N; Kaya, DOThis study aimed to determine the inter- and intra-session reliability and validity of the Performanz JumpR device for measuring different jump performances in young male soccer players. Fifty-four young male soccer players (mean age: 15.90 +/- 0.70) completed three maximal squat jumps (SJ), countermovement jumps (CJ), and 40 cm drop jumps (DJ) over two separate days. These jumps were assessed using both a contact mat and the Performanz JumpR device. The different jump performances were compared using several statistical methods, including the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC = 2.1), Bland-Altman plots, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (r), Cronbach's alpha (alpha), and the coefficient of variation (CV). Results showed almost perfect agreement between the Performanz JumpR device and the contact mat for SJ, CJ, and 40 cm DJ values, with jump heights and peak powers yielding ICC values between 0.98 and 0.99 during both assessment sessions. Additionally, the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient showed an almost perfect correlation between the measurements from the Performanz JumpR device and the contact mat for SJ, CJ, and 40 cm DJ values, with r values ranging from 0.96 to 0.99 during the first and second assessment sessions. The Performanz JumpR device demonstrated very good intra-session reliability for the three jumps in each set, with the following results: SJ (jump height, alpha = 0.98, CV = 2.02; peak power, alpha = 0.99, CV = 1.35), CJ (jump height, alpha = 0.98, CV = 2.20; peak power, alpha = 0.99, CV = 1.46), and 40 cm DJ (jump height, alpha = 0.97, CV = 2.61; peak power, alpha = 0.99, CV = 1.79). When analyzing the inter-session reliability of the Performanz JumpR device and contact mat across all players, almost identical correlations were observed between the two instruments for SJ, CJ, and 40 cm DJ regarding jump heights and peak powers (r = 0.96-0.99) between the first and second assessment sessions. Additionally, the Bland-Altman plots demonstrated an almost agreement, with a systematic bias identified between the Performanz JumpR device and the contact mat for SJ, DJ, and 40 cm DJ values (p < 0.01). Overall, the Performanz JumpR device provided reliable inter-session and intra-session data, as well as valid measurements for maximal jump height and peak power during SJ, CJ, and 40 cm DJ in young male soccer players.Item Mechanical performance of marine sandwich composites subjected to flatwise compression and flexural loading: Effect of resin pinsBalikoglu, F; Demircioglu, TK; Yildiz, M; Arslan, N; Atas, AMechanical performance of marine sandwich panels comprising E-glass/vinyl ester face sheets and perforated poly-vinyl chloride foam core was evaluated and compared with conventional foam core sandwich panels. Circular holes through the foam core thickness were drilled with 12 different arrangements in square patterns and the holes were filled with the resin during the infusion process which created the through-the-thickness solid resin pins. The effect of each pattern on the flatwise compression and core shear properties of the sandwich panels were experimentally investigated. The three-point bending maximum failure load of perforated foam core sandwich panels was increased over 133.8% by increasing the diameter of the resin pins at the expense of increased panel weight up to 67%. The flatwise compression stress to induce core crushing was significantly increased by reinforcing the resin pins.Item HbA1c Levels Increase in Patients with Non-Dipper Hypertension without Diabetes MellitusAkçay, S; Kobat, MA; Inci, F; Birkan, Z; Yildiz, M; Dagli, N; Cetin, N; Bilge, ARItem Determination of antifungal efficiency of some fungicides and secondary metabolites of Trichoderma species against Botrytis cinereaSavas, NG; Yildiz, M; Eltem, R; Ozkale, EAim: The present study aimed to investigate the antifungal effects of fenhexamid, cyprodinil+fludioxanil, Bacillus subtilis QST 713, Trichoderma secondary metabolites (EGE-K-38 and EGE-K-71) on 6 isolates of necrotrophic fungi (Botrytis cinerea) under in-vitro conditions. Methodology: the effects of volatile compounds produced by Trichoderma in culture media against Botrytis cinerea isolates. For non-volatile and volatile metabolites, measurements for growth inhibition were made with the mixture of filter sterilized liquid medium of Trichoderma and potato dextrose agar. The fungicidal effects of these non-volatile metabolites and fungicides were first evaluated according to the effective concentration (EC50) data of growing mycelium inhibition of disease agents. Results: the lowest fungicidal activity was determined as fenhexamide, which seems to have the lowest EC50 value of 0.05 ug m l . Both-1 non-volatile metabolites and volatile metabolites of Trichoderma strains showed strong inhibition against B. cinerea isolates under experimental conditions. The highest growth inhibition percentage was determined with volatile metabolites of Trihoderma atroviride EGE-K-71 strain as 71.8%. Interpretation: secondary metabolites and volatile compounds of Trichoderma strains produced in both liquid culture and dual culture conditions The study suggest that filtrates that contain can be used as an effective fungal control agents against pre and postharvest contamination of grapes with Botrytis cinerea.Item Reasons for clozapine discontinuation in patients with treatment-resistant schizophreniaUcok, A; Yagcioglu, EA; Yildiz, M; Kaymak, SU; Saka, MC; Tasdelen, R; Danaci, AE; Senol, SHAlthough clozapine is more effective than other antipsychotics in the treatment of schizophrenia, the rate of its discontinuation is also high. The aim of this retrospective chart-review study was to investigate the causes of clozapine discontinuation in patients with treatment-resistant schizophrenia. This study included a total of 396 patients with schizophrenia, 240 still on clozapine therapy and 156 who discontinued clozapine, and compared their clinical characteristics. Those who discontinued clozapine had a longer history of illness and more hospitalizations before clozapine and tended to be older. Inadequate response was more common among clozapine discontinuers compared to continuers. The most common reason for discontinuation was the side-effects associated with clozapine (49%). Discontinuation from patient decision or by the psychiatrist due to noncompliance was the second (29.7%) and discontinuation due to lack of efficacy was the third most frequent reason (21.3%). The patients who discontinued clozapine because of cardiac side effects were younger, had shorter duration of clozapine use, and had lower maximum clozapine dose compared to the other discontinuers. Our findings point out the importance of enhancing psychiatrists' ability to handle manageable side effects to minimize discontinuations and maximize the benefits of clozapine in patients with treatment-resistant schizophrenia.
