Item Macroelement (N, P, K) contents of Romulea columnae Seb. and Mauri Subsp. columnae during vegetative and generative growth phases(Academic Journals Inc., 2007) Kök T.; Bilgin A.; Özdemir C.; Kutbay H.G.; Keskin M.Romulea columnae Seb. and Mauri subsp. columnae is a geophytic plant belonging to Iridaceae. In this study nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) analysis were carried out during vegetative and generative growth periods. It has been found that above ground parts of plant have higher macroelement concentrations as compared to below ground parts during vegetative growth period. However, below ground parts have higher macroelement concentrations during generative growth phase due merely to top senescence. In addition to this there were significant and mostiy negative conelations between plant and soil macroelement concentrations. © 2007 Academic Journals Inc.Item Algae of Turkey from the Herbarium Forsskålii(Academic Journals Inc., 2008) Taşkin E.; Pedersen P.M.The naturalist, Pehr Forsskål collected samples (phanerogams and cryptogams) from Estac (France), Turkey, Egypt and Yemen between 1761-1763. The collected plants were published in Flora Aegyptiaco-Arabica in 1775 including a list of 16 algal species from Turkey. In the present work, algae of Turkey from the Herbarium Forsskålii were studied. Several herbarium sheets have been lost and therefore, we were unable to identify some of Forsskål's collections. The aim of this research was to identify some of the remaining species and to annotate with regard to taxonomy and nomenclature. © 2008 Academic Journals Inc.
