Item A numerical method for solving systems of higher order linear functional differential equations(De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2016) Yüzbasi S.; Gök E.; Sezer M.Functional differential equations have importance in many areas of science such as mathematical physics. These systems are difficult to solve analytically. In this paper we consider the systems of linear functional differential equations [1-9] including the term y(αx + β) and advance-delay in derivatives of y. To obtain the approximate solutions of those systems, we present a matrix-collocation method by using Müntz-Legendre polynomials and the collocation points. For this purpose, to obtain the approximate solutions of those systems, we present a matrix-collocation method by using Müntz-Legendre polynomials and the collocation points. This method transform the problem into a system of linear algebraic equations. The solutions of last system determine unknown co-efficients of original problem. Also, an error estimation technique is presented and the approximate solutions are improved by using it. The program of method is written in Matlab and the approximate solutions can be obtained easily. Also some examples are given to illustrate the validity of the method. © 2015 S. Conflicts between construction parties often have very unfavourable effects, such as cost increases, poor construction quality and time extension in the schedule. Lots of studies have been carried out in order to try and avoid these disagreements. However, there are no common resolution tools or techniques due to the improving conditions and scope of contracted works. Advanced methods and dispute reasons should be fully monitored and updated for the applicable solutions. This paper discusses the current major constructional dispute reasons in Turkey. The questionnaire method was applied within the scope of this study. The questionnaire documents were randomly distributed to 80 contractors to analyse major dispute reasons in Turkey. Analysis of the questionnaire results indicates that the major current dispute causes are poor quality of performed works, delays in progress payments, inefficient site management, poorly written contracts and design mistakes. © 2016 Polish Academy of Sciences.Item Economic Analysis of the Photovoltaic Installation Use Possibilities in Farms; [Analiza Ekonomiczna Mozliwości Zastosowania Instalacji Fotowoltaicznej W Gospodarstwach Rolnych](De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2020) Kwaśniewski D.; Akdeniz C.; Durmaz F.; Kömekçi F.The aim of the study was to conduct an economic analysis of the possibilities of using photovoltaic (PV) installations in selected farms. Two selected online PV calculators were used for the analysis. The research included 15 farms located in the Małopolskie Province. For a PV installation estimated using Calculator 1, Hewalex, the payback period ranged from 5.5 to 7 years for the 40% subsidy option and from 9 to 11 years without the subsidy, respectively. On the other hand, the payback period estimated with the use of the SmartekDom calculator ranged from 6 to 8 years for the option with 40% subsidy. However, without the subsidy, the period ranged from 7 to even 13 years. © 2020 Dariusz Kwaśniewski et al., published by Sciendo.Item Numerical Solutions Based on a Collocation Method Combined with Euler Polynomials for Linear Fractional Differential Equations with Delay(De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2020) Konuralp A.; Öner S.In this study, a method combined with both Euler polynomials and the collocation method is proposed for solving linear fractional differential equations with delay. The proposed method yields an approximate series solution expressed in the truncated series form in which terms are constituted of unknown coefficients that are to be determined according to Euler polynomials. The matrix method developed for the linear fractional differential equations is improved to the case of having delay terms. Furthermore, while putting the effect of conditions into the algebraic system written in the augmented form in which the coefficients of Euler polynomials are unknowns, the condition matrix scans the rows one by one. Thus, by using our program written in Mathematica there can be obtained more than one semi-analytic solutions that approach to exact solutions. Some numerical examples are given to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method. © 2020 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston 2020.Item An anxiolytic drug buspirone ameliorates hyperglycemia and endothelial dysfunction in type 2 diabetic rat model; [Anksiyolitik bir ilaç olan buspiron tip 2 diyabet sıçan modelinde hiperglisemi ve endotelyal disfonksiyonu düzeltiyor](De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2020) Çavuşoğlu T.G.; Darıverenli E.; Vural K.; Ekerbicer N.; Ulman C.; Ölmez E.; Uysal N.Objectives: Type 2 diabetes is a common metabolic disease and anxiety disorders are very common among diabetics. Buspirone is used in the treatment of anxiety, also having blood glucose-lowering effects. The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of buspirone on the glucose and lipid metabolism as well as vascular function in type 2 diabetic rats. Methods: A type 2-diabetic model was induced through a high-fat diet for eight weeks followed by the administration of low-dose streptozotocin (35 mg/kg, intraperitoneal) in rats. Buspirone was given at two different doses (1.5 mg/kg/d and 5 mg/kg/d) and combined with metformin (300 mg/kg/d). The fasting glucose and insulin levels, lipid profile were analyzed, and vascular response measured from the thoracic aorta was also evaluated. Results: Both doses of buspirone caused a significant improvement in fasting blood glucose levels. In particular, the buspirone treatment, combined with metformin, improved endothelial dysfunction and was found to be correlated with decreased nitrate/nitrite levels. Conclusions: Buspirone may be effective in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, either alone or in combination with other treatments, particularly in terms of endothelial dysfunction, inflammation and impaired blood glucose, and insulin levels. © 2020 De Gruyter. The aim of this research is to look at the impact of two separate resistance training programs on blood biomarkers that are associated with the early detection of cardiac risk. Methods: Forty-five male participants (mean 41 years) were randomly divided into three groups: The low-intensity resistance exercise group (LIEG), the moderate-intensity resistance exercise group (MIEG), and the control group (CG). The programs were implemented three times a week and in two sets. MIEG consisted of 8–10 repeats at 70–80% density of one repetition maximum load (1RM), while LIEG consisted of 15–17 repeats at 50–60% density of 1RM. CG did not participate in any exercise program. Two-factor mixed-design ANOVA assessed the data. Results: Before, fourth week, and after the exercise program in repeated measurements, there was a significant decrease in body mass (−1.7%), body mass index (−1.7%), apelin (−44%), and pentraxin 3 (−39%) levels in MIEG (p < 0.05). Additionally, our study noted a decrease in pentraxin 3 (−25%, p < 0.05) and interleukin 6 (−21%) levels, while there was an increase in creatine kinase (18%), and lactate dehydrogenase (7.4%) levels in LIEG. Strength levels improved significantly in exercise groups. Conclusions: Eight weeks of moderate-resistance training can potentially reduce the cardiovascular risk in healthy men. © 2021 Murat Akyüz et al., published by De Gruyter.Item An important source of preanalytical error in medical laboratories: Centrifugation(De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2021) Sonmez C.; Gümüs A.; Senes M.; Aykal G.; Taneli F.; Aksungar F.; Avci E.; Coskun C.; Çinaroglu I.; Colak A.; Eker P.; Güçel F.; Hakligor A.; Inal B.B.; Orhan B.; Yilmaz C.Centrifugation separates particles within the specimen according to their shape, dimensions, and density and basically can be defined as a separation method. The centrifuge is an essential device in medical laboratories to prepare the serum, plasma, and urine samples for analysis. It is basically an electric device composed of the stationary (motor) and the motile (rotor) part. The centrifugation depends on two main variables: relative centrifugal force (RCF) and centrifugation time. The physical impact separating the specimen into its components in the centrifuge known as RCF is expressed as the multiples of gravitational acceleration (×g). RPM, defined as the number of rotations of the centrifuge perminute, shows the speed of the centrifuge. RCF value can be calculated by using RPM, and the centrifuge radius. Because models and sizes of centrifuges vary considerably, the use of gravity (g) forces instead of RPM is suggested. The centrifuges can be classified according to their usage, speed, technical specifications, and rotor type. An accurate and precise centrifugation process is essential to prevent errors in the preanalytical phase. The purpose of this document is to ensure the standardization of a good, precise protocol for the centrifugation process among the medical laboratories. © 2021 De Gruyter. The aimof the studywas to investigate the effect of eccentric exercise-induced delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) on ER stress-related markers in young athletes. Objectives and Methods: ER stress and DOMS-related blood markers, maximal strength level, and rate of perceived exertion using the visual analog scale (VAS) were assessed before, immediately after, 24, 48, and 72 h after the muscle damage protocol. Results: IL6 peaked 24 h after while creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase enzyme levels reached their peaks at 72 h after the protocol. The level of apelin continued to increase throughout the four measurements, and PTX3 peaked at 24 h, and then declined to the levels before the protocol but the differences were not significant. The significant decrease in the strength and the significant increase in VAS continued 48 h after the protocol. Conclusion: ER is activated and ER stress occurred, due to increases in IL6, PTX3 and apelin levels after the test protocol concluded that a single vigorous eccentric exercise should be avoided in harmful effect on health as parallel with Physical Activity Guidelines Open Access. 2020 Yeliz Dogru et al. © 2021 De Gruyter. The aim of this study is to explore potential serum biomarkers that may be associated with IBS subtypes, particularly in the vitamin D pathway. Methods: The study population comprised 75 IBS patients and 79 controls. Patients divided into IBS subtypes. Routine biochemical parameters, 25-OH-vitamin D, vitamin D binding protein (VDBP) and vitamin D receptor (VDR) serum levels were compared between IBS subtypes and controls. Factors related to IBS subtypes were examined by multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results: Vitamin D levels were lower; VDBP and VDR were higher in all IBS patients than in controls (p<0.001; 0.047 and 0.029, respectively). According to logistic regression analysis, VDBP was a disease-related parameter as much as vitamin D in all IBS subtypes. C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) were higher especially in diarrhea-dominant IBS (IBS-D) (p=0.041; 0.046) and vitamin B12 were significantly lower in constipation-dominant IBS (IBS-C) (p=0.001). Conclusions: Increased VDBP levels were associated with all IBS subtypes. Patients, especially in IBS-D, had higher serum levels of VDBP, CRP and ESR. Vitamin B12 deficiency, which we consider as a result of the disease, was more common in IBS-C Open Access. 2021 Elif B rekci et al. © 2021 De Gruyter. Our objective was to evaluate the relation between the second-trimester placental elasticity value in low-risk pregnant women and poor obstetric outcomes. A total of 143 pregnant women were enrolled. Placental elasticity values were measured using the transabdominal point shear wave elastography method. 10 random measurements were obtained from different areas of the placenta. The mean was accepted as the mean placental elasticity value. Logistic regression analyses were performed to identify independent variables associated with obstetric outcomes. Second-trimester placental elasticity value was significantly and positively associated with the poor obstetric outcomes (p=0.038). We could predict a poor outcome with 69.2% sensitivity and 60.7% specificity if we defined the placental elasticity cut-off as 3.19 kPa. Furthermore, in the multiple regression model, the placental elasticity value added significantly to the prediction of birth weight (p=0.043). Our results showed that the pregnancies with a stiffer placenta in the second trimester were associated with an increased likelihood of exhibiting poor obstetric outcomes. Also, placental elasticity was independently associated with birth weight. © 2020 2020 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.Item Dynamics of liquid drop on a vibrating micro-perforated plate(De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2021) Sarl G.; Aydln Y.N.; Bilekli Ü.G.; Göl M.B.The present work presents the behavior of a liquid drop placed onto a surface of the perforated plate experimentally. Micro holes were created on the brass plate by a laser marking method. The actuator made of brass and piezoelectric discs driven by a sine input voltage, and it bonded rigidly to the perforated plate. This study aimed to reveal the behavior of the drop placed on the perforated plate and the effects of the initial acceleration value on the rate of change in the drop projected area onto the surface. For this purpose, a frequency-response function of the dry micro-perforated plate was measured by a laser vibrometer, and the acceleration distribution was determined on the perforated plate. Further, the drop was excited with five different initial acceleration values, and the drop projected area onto the surface was recorded by a camera during the atomization process. It was observed that droplets were atomized at the air-liquid interface on two sides of the perforated plate. The time-varying function of the drop projected area onto the surface for each initial acceleration value was presented graphically. The polynomial function was fitted to the experimental data points for each acceleration value, and thus the effects of the initial acceleration on the varying drop size were analyzed. The authors emphasized that the drop projected area onto the surface first increased and then decreased during the atomization process. The rate of change in the drop projected area onto the surface increased as the initial acceleration increased. The drop was atomized both by ejecting from the surface and sucking through the holes. © 2021 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston 2021.Item Evaluation of midwifery students' learning approaches to the compulsory biochemistry course; [Ebelik öǧrencilerinin biyokimya dersi öǧrenme yaklaşimlaririn incelenmesi](De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2022) Kosova F.; Çelik N.; Şimşek H.N.; Ulaş S.C.Learning approach in a certain learning process is based on the student's intentions, behaviors, and habits according to his/her perceptions of the task of learning and determines the amount and quality of learning. The objective of this study is to evaluate the learning approaches of 1st and 4th grade midwifery students to biochemistry course and the change, if there is any, through their education. Methods: This is an observational, cross-sectional study. The research population consisted of the voluntary students (86.47%, n:147) of the 2017-2018 season of the 1st and 4th class of Manisa Celal Bayar University, Health Science Faculty, Midwifery Department (n:170). Data were collected by using the "Introductory Information Form"and the "Learning Approach Scale", and evaluated in the SPSS package program by performing number, percentile, mean, standard deviation, independent t test. Results: The mean age of the students was 20.82 ± 1.81. Over 95% of the students stated that biochemistry lesson was necessary, while 59.9% reported that their biochemistry knowledge was insufficient. Over 87% of the student expressed their belief that the content of the biochemistry classes will help them in their professional career. Mean score of deep approach for Learning Approach Scale was 34.13 ± 6.07 (Min:19.00-Max:50.00), and mean score of superficial approach for Learning Approach Scale was 26.94 ± 6.37 (Min:15.00-Max:50.00). There was a significant relation between deep approach scale score and the perception of high importance of biochemistry in the professional life (p<0.05). Conclusions: Midwifery students, who believe that biochemistry is necessary for their professional career have a higher motivation for learning biochemistry, thus perform a deeper approach to learning. In general, creating effective and dynamic educational environments that support deep learning is necessary for enhancing the learning of biochemistry. © 2020 Funda Kosova et al.Item OP11: DEVELOPMENT OF DIFFERENT PRODUCT GROUPS IN THE CLEANING INDUSTRY WITH SYNTHESIZED NANOSILVER(De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2022) Merdol H.; Yildiz C.; Razlikli A.; Hemen C.Objective: Thanks to the rapid progress of science and technology, the functional properties of the raw materials in the formulations are considered as innovation at the beginning, but today it is a necessity. Silver, with its unique chemical and biological properties, has been used in many studies in the past, such as the disinfection of drinking water1, the prevention of eye infections, and the treatment of cholera and epilepsy in the 17th century. In addition, it has been observed that viruses can bind to - SH structures in proteins and inhibit these structures, thus preventing the reproduction of such micro- organisms. Materials-Method: Nano-sized colloidal silvers were synthesized using the “Turkevich” reduction method using trisodium citrate (C6H5O7Na3). Citrate was used both as a reducing agent and as a coating agent in the reaction. During the study, the synthesis of colloidal nanosilver, characterization studies and the creation of a liquid laundry detergent and disinfectant product selected from the cleaning product range will be carried out with the synthesized colloidal nanosilver. Results: The synthesized colloidal nanosilver structures were characterized by ICP-MS, UV-VIS Spectroscopy and SEM analysis. According to the results of the ICP-MS analysis, the synthesized colloidal nanosilver concentration was found to be 159.08 mg/L. According to the UV-VIS analysis result, the absorbance value was 0.9317, while the wavelength was around 448 nm. The SEM images taken showed that the synthesized particle was 40-50 nm in size. Conclusion: Colloidal nanosilver has been used successfully in 2 different product groups. After preparing liquid laundry detergent and disinfectant product groups containing peroxide, pH, viscosity, stability, microbial product analysis and SEM analyzes were performed. The SEM images taken showed that the colloidal nanosilver in the 2 products was 35-45 nm in size. The 3-month stability results of the product were evaluated as appropriate. In addition, it has been proven by accredited tests that the disinfectant product has antiviral activity. © 2022 De Gruyter. To the best of the researchers' knowledge, there is no study performed into multi-supported nanobeam in the literature. The governing equations of the system are obtained by dint of the Hamilton principle and solved via the perturbation technique which is divided linear and non-linear parts of the main equations. The natural frequencies and mode shapes are calculated from the linear problem. The non-linear natural frequencies and amplitude-phase modulation graphs are obtained from the non-linear equation. All equations are written in generalized form, and 3, 4 and 5 supported nanobeams are investigated in detail. The nonlocal coefficient, support number and position and end condition types are focused on. The three to one internal resonance cases are also investigated. It is occurred that the clamped-end conditions shift right in the hardening behaviour graphs more than the simply supported condition. Moreover, it is shown that the supported numbers play a significant role in natural frequency. © 2021 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.Item Evaluation of the clinical self-efficacy of postgraduate midwifery students who took courses related to biochemistry: a cross-sectional study(De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2022) Kosova F.; Şimşek H.N.; Çelik N.Objectives: Postgraduate midwifery students learn the science and art of midwifery in clinical settings through the integration of evidence-based knowledge, practical skills, quality of care, and personal attitudes. These personal attitudes are confidence, intuition, problem solving, critical thinking, and self-efficacy. This study's goal was to evaluate the clinical self-efficacy of midwifery students who took courses related to biochemistry in the postgraduate education program. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used in the study. In the study, data collection was performed using surveys from students in the postgraduate midwifery education program. The study data were collected by employing the "Introductory Information Form"and the "Self-efficacy for Clinical Evaluation Scale."Data evaluation was performed by number, percentage, mean, and correlation test. Results: It was revealed that 67.7% of midwifery students who took the courses were postgraduate students in the thesis stage, 41% of them worked in secondary health services, and 51.6% of them had a clinical experience of 5 years and more. The total score of the self-efficacy perception subscale was 4.22 ± 0.49 (1-5), whereas the total score of the perceived confidence subscale was 4.57 ± 0.45 (1-5). There was a statistically significant correlation between the self-efficacy subscale and the importance subscale. Conclusions: The results indicated that postgraduate midwifery students had high clinical self-efficacy scores. We think that the elective courses related to biochemistry in the postgraduate midwifery education program may have positively affected their clinical skills. We anticipate that it will be appropriate to conduct research with a larger sample size to examine the effect of postgraduate midwifery education on students' clinical self-efficacy. © 2021 Funda Kosova et al.Item Marine macroalgal flora on the Aegean and the Levantine coasts of Turkey(De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2022) Taşkln E.; Çaklr M.This study contains an updated checklist and new collections of marine algae from the coasts of the Aegean Sea and the Levantine Sea of Turkey. The method aims to obtain a sustainable approach since it contains the rational structure of the Nörlund polynomial. A unique computer program module, which involves very few routines, is constructed to discuss the precision and efficiency of the method and these few steps are described via an algorithm. A residual function is employed in both the error and convergence analyses with mean value theorem for double integrals. The considered equations in the numerical tests stand for model phenomena arising widely in applied sciences. Graphical and numerical comparisons provide a clear observation about the consistency of the method. All results prove that the method is highly accurate, eligible, and provides the ultimate operation for aforementioned problems. © 2021 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.Item Symmetry analysis of the constant acceleration curve equation(De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2023) Pakdemirli M.Lie group theory is applied to the curve equation which maintains constant normal accelerations for a vehicle with constant deceleration. The curve equation is a third order nonlinear ordinary differential equation for which the symmetries are calculated. It is shown that the equation possesses four-parameter Lie group of transformations including scaling, rotation and translational symmetries. In the case of constant velocity, the algebra increases to a six-parameter Lie group of transformations. Using the symmetries of the differential equation, the group invariant solutions are determined first. The conditions for group invariant solutions to exist are given. By employment of the symmetries, a solution is obtained by reduction of order also. It is found that the nontrivial solutions are of implicit complex forms. © 2023 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.Item Investigation of stepped microbeam vibration motions according to modified couple stress theory(De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2023) Polat S.C.; Baǧdatll S.M.In this study, linear and nonlinear vibration movements of simply supported stepped microbeams placed in a magnetic field have been analyzed using Modified Couple Stress Theory. By taking into account the step radius ratio, step-change position, and material size parameter, the equations of motion of the stepped-microbeam are obtained using the Hamilton principle. The resulting equations of motion are nondimensionalized to eliminate dependence on material type and geometric structure. The approximate solution of the dimensionless equations of motion is calculated using the method of multiple scales, one of the perturbation methods. The solution stages of the study are divided into two separate parts as linear and nonlinear problems. Firstly, the linear issue of the stepped microbeam is addressed. The natural frequencies of the system are derived by solving the linear problem. Linear and nonlinear effects of step radius ratio, step-change position, and microbeam coefficient are investigated and frequency-amplitude graphs are presented. The resonance state where forcing frequency is equal to natural frequency is examined and stability analysis has been made. © 2023 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.Item Investigation of charged-particle induced reactions on 27Al up to 100 MeV leading to the formation of 22Na and 24Na(De Gruyter Open Ltd, 2023) Canbula D.; Canbula B.Studies using theoretical models are of great importance for understanding of reaction process and its nature. In this study, nuclear level density model calculations of the cross sections of 27Al are investigated by using TALYS 1.96 computer code. The cross section calculations of 27Al(α,x)22Na, 27Al(α,x)24Na, 27Al(3He,x)22Na, 27Al(3He,x)24Na, 27Al(p,x)22Na and 27Al(p,x)24Na reactions were carried out for incident particle energy up to 100 MeV. In these calculations, four nuclear level density models, namely constant temperature model (CTM), back-shifted Fermi gas model (BSFGM), generalized superfluid model (GSM) and recently proposed semi-classical Fermi gas model (CSCFGM) are used. This model is developed using the simplest model BSFGM. The most obvious difference between CSCFGM and other models is the inclusion of the collective effects in the base of the formulation. The predicted results are discussed and compared with each other and the available experimental data taken from EXFOR library. In order to better evaluate the model results, chi-squared values are calculated and compared with each other for all analyzed reactions. According to the chi-squared results, CSCFGM gives closer predictions to the experimental data compared with the other models in 4 of the 6 analyzed reactions. Therefore, in this study, it is presented that this model can be reliably used in the reaction cross section calculations. © 2023 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.
