Item Linear porokeratosis. A case report(Dermatologia Pediatrica, 2002) Sahin M.T.; Öztürkcan S.; Türel A.; Kandiloglu A.R.Linear porokeratosis (LP) is a rare variant of porokeratosis of Mibelli. It is a disorder of keratinization, which consists of atrophic lesions with a raised horny margin. The cause is quite unknown. No definite inheritance pattern has been established. Among the five clinical forms of porokeratosis of Mibelli (PM), LP represents the segmental form, in which porokeratotic lesions are arranged in a linear fashion, usually corresponding to a dermatome or Blaschko's lines. The condition is strictly unilateral and onset is usually in infancy and childhood. There is slight risk of malignant transformation. We report a 16-year-old girl with a 14-year history of typical lesions in a linear arrangement on the dorsal aspect of her right leg, which were diagnosed as linear porokeratosis based on the clinical and histopathological features.Item Improvement in symptoms of psoriasis in a child after treatment with grass pollen specific allergen immunotherapy(Dermatologia Pediatrica, 2007) Sogut A.; Yilmaz O.; Yuksel H.Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease of skin in which Th1 lymphocytes have a central role. Similar to all inflammatory diseases, additional inflammation may lead to the exacerbation of manifestations. Allergic asthma is the chronic eosinophilic inflammatory disease of the bronchial mucosa in which Th2 lymphocyte activity predominates. A nine year old boy who had been under conventional topical treatment for psoriasis without improvement for three months, presented to the outpatient department with recurrent cough, dyspnea and wheezing of one year duration. The physical examination revealed white plaques on extensor surfaces of elbows and knees as well as prolonged expirium and wheezing. Positive allergen skin prick test against "olea europea" and "fraxinus excelsior" pollens were observed. Inhaled steroids and allergen specific immunotherapy were initiated with the diagnosis of allergic asthma. Psoriatic findings regressed without requirement for an additional topical treatment during follow up along with asthma findings. As a conclusion, inflammatory stress of allergic asthma may aggravate psoriasis and treatment with allergen specific immunotherapy may help decrease findings of psoriasis.Item Efficacy of treatment with excimer phototherapy in nail dystrophy secondary to lichen striatus.(Dermatologia Pediatrica, 2023) Sezer E.; Kayahan S.Nail dystrophy secondary to lichen striatus is rare and difficult to treat. A 4-year-old girl with this problem, who has not responded to topical treatment with clobetasol propionate, is treated with excimer phototherapy which leads to rapid improvement. This treatment, which as far as we know has never been described in the literature, constitutes an effective and safe therapeutic option in cases that do not respond to other topical therapies. © 2023 Dermatologia Pediatrica.
