In order to cope with this pain, music is a recommended method. A study which researches the effect of music upon the postoperative pain in pediatric patients could not be reached in Turkey. Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of music upon the postoperative pain in pediatric patients in the age group of 7-12, who had undergone an orthopedic surgery. Methods: The research was designed as a semi-experimental. The study was conducted between June and October 2011 at the orthopedic and traumatology service of a university hospital. The sample of the study consisted of 60 children aged 7-12 years. The classical music was listened to the children who were in experimental group after the surgery. Description form of children who had undergone an orthopedic surgery and their families, which was prepared by the researcher, and Visual Analog Scale was used for the collection of the data. As well as the percentage and chi-square tests, the significance test (t test) was used for the difference between two averages in independent groups for the analysing the data. Results: There is a similarity between the experimental and control group, in terms of the distribution of variables regarding their age, gender, type of surgery, whether the patient has had previous surgery, the first postoperative analgesic time and type of analgesic drug, and the difference between two groups was found to be statistically insignificant (p > .05). According to the results obtained from the study, it was determined that the pain scores of children in the experimental group who had undergone a surgery were significantly lower within the first 6 hours compared to the children in the control group (p < .05), there was no statistical difference between the pain scores of pediatric patients in the experimental and control groups within the first 12 and 24 hours (p > .05). Conclusion: Music was suggested to be included in nursing practices as an non-pharmacological nursing intervention, due to its positive effect within the first 6 hours during the postoperative period. © 2019, Dokuz Eylul University. Objectives: The aim of this study was to perform the validity and reliability study of the Turkish form of the Childbirth Expectations and Experiences Scale (CEES). Methods: The study carried out 360 pregnant women who applied for giving birth to a hospital in Manisa, who had research criteria and agreed to participate in the study. This scale was developed in 2008 by Tanglakmankhong and consists of two parts. The first section (CEES-1) evaluates the expectations regarding delivery before birth, while (CEES-2) evaluates the situation of reaching expectations after delivery. Analyzes were done by taking into consideration the original scale of the scale, language, content and construct validity were used to test the validity of the scale. Student T test was used to calculate the difference between the second part of the scale and satisfaction with delivery. The reliability analysis of this scale was performed with the Cronbach alpha coefficient. Results: The language validity of this scale was requested by 10 experts to translate the English scale form into Turkish and the content validity was made by refining the expressions according to the opinions of the five associate professors. The Cronbach's alpha value of the CEES was found to be.891. Overall, 81.7% of the women who participated in the study were met and 32.1% of the expectations that they did not expected were met. Conclusion: In this study, Turkish form of CEES was found to be valid and reliable and it was found to be applicable for Turkish society. This scale can be used to determine the expectations of women in childbirth and to meet these expectations in birth clinics. © 2020, Dokuz Eylul University. Objectives: In research, it was aimed to determine the health care satisfaction levels of parents whose children are in hospital because of acute and chronic illnesses and influencing factors. Methods: The study was conducted with 109 parents who accompanied the child in the hospital. The data of the study were collected by using “Description Form” and “PedsQL Health Care Satisfaction Scale”. Data were evaluated by descriptive statistics, Student t, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U tests. Results: It was found that 51.4% of the children included in the study were hospitalized due to acute illness and 88.1% of the interviewed parents were mothers. It was found that the satisfaction scores of the parents who stayed in the hospital for more than 20 days decreased as the duration of hospital stay prolonged; the satisfaction scores of the parents who were informed about the diagnosis, treatment and care of their child while staying in the hospital increased; the satisfaction scores of the parents who needed to express their feelings of stres and anger decreased (p < .05). Conclusion: It was determined that parents who accompanied their children in the hospital were informed about the diagnosis, treatment and care of their children, increased their general satisfaction levels and decreased their levels of stres and anger. Effective communication between physicians and nurses is a basic factor that can prevent conflict by maintaining team cooperation. Although not included in the literature, it is thought that the perceptions of physicians and nurses towards the image of nursing may also lead to conflict. Accordingly, it is important to determine the causes of conflict of the two professional groups and their perceptions towards the image of nursing. Objectives: The aim of this study is to compare and evaluate the perceptions of intern students of medical faculty and nursing department towards the causes of physician-nurse conflict and the image of nursing. Methods: The population of this descriptive and cross-sectional research was total of 382 intern students were studying in a public university of Faculty of Medicine (n = 200) and Nursing (n = 182) Departments between March and May 2019. The sample consisted of a total of 158 students who were interns in the medical faculty and nursing department of a public university and met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected with introductory features form, Scale of Doctor-Nurse Conflict Causes and Scale for Image of Nursing Profession. Results: %71.5 (n = 113) of the sample consisted of nursing, and %28.5 (n = 45) of medical intern students. While the mean Scale for Image of Nursing Profession score of medical interns was 106.55 ± 1.50, it was 105.42 ± 1.10 for nursing interns. It was determined that the image of the nursing profession was weak for both nursing and medical intern students. There was a significant difference between medical and nursing students in terms of professional perception (p = .000) and communication (p = .000) sub-dimension scores of Scale of Doctor-Nurse Conflict Causes and in terms of Scale for Image of Nursing Profession (p = .000), professional quality (p = .000), working conditions (p = .000), gender (p = .000), education (p = .000) and appearance (p = .000) mean scores. While nursing students showed the doctor's characteristics like professional perception and communication as a reason for more conflict; medical students have shown that unbalanced seizure distribution, intense working hours and the imbalance of authority. Conclusion: In the light of the findings, the image perception towards the nursing profession is weak in terms of nursing and medical intern students. While medical interns mostly focus on working conditions as the cause of conflict, it has been determined that nursing interns see the problems arising from the perception of profession and communication between the physician and nurse as the cause of conflict. © 2022, Dokuz Eylul University. In programs that provide knowledge and skill-based education such as nursing education, active learning methods should be used to create learning environments where the student is in an active position and the trainer is a guide. The Flipped Classroom Model is one of the student-centered teaching methods that includes the application of active learning strategies. The basic logic of this model; It is the allocation of the lesson time in the classroom to the learning process in which the student is more active. Students who come to the lesson by studying the lesson materials before the lesson are provided to construct the knowledge with the activities they are active in the lesson. In the lessons conducted with this model, students learn concepts at their own learning pace. The fact that the course can be studied at any time and place highlights the flexible teaching method feature of the model. In addition, this model is more effective in developing students’ spirit of cooperation, practice and communication skills, in-terest in the lesson, and ability to think and analyze compared to the traditional classroom. In this review, the content, learning process, advantages and disadvantages of the Flipped Classroom Model, which can be used as an alternative method for continuing nursing education with distance education, are given and literature information about its use in nursing education is presented. © 2023, Dokuz Eylul University.
