Item The Relationship Between Political Instability and Budget Consistency: 1984-2018 Period Analysis in Turkey; [Bütçe Tutarlılığı ile Politik İstikrarsızlık İlişkisi: Türkiye’de 1984-2018 Dönemi Analizi](Sosyoekonomi Society, 2020) Atilgan-Yaşa A.; Şanlisoy S.; Özen A.In this study, it is aimed to determine the relationship between the political instability and the consistency of the budget in line with the deviations between the government budget revenue and expenditure estimates and their realizations in Turkey. In other words, the study evaluated the consistency of the objectives in the budget documents, the performance audit and the effects of the political instability on the budget. To what extent political instability affacts the budget estimates and its realization in Turkey has been examined using the ARDL method with data for the 1984-2018 period. It was found that the structural change in the budget system realized in 2006 had a positive effect on the achievement of budget targets. As a result of this study, suggestions for improving the consistency of forecasts and solutions for problems that may be caused by political instability were developed. © 2020, Sosyoekonomi Society. Farklı İktisadi Anlayışlar Temelinde Kuramsal Bir Analiz](Sosyoekonomi Society, 2022) Sari-Aksakal B.One of the main mechanisms of development in economies is the efficient use of factors of production. In the use of labour, one of the primary production resources in economies, it can be said that there is a distribution in favour of men in many countries in terms of existing gender patterns. Women's labour remains secondary because men are central in almost all social institutions and relations, and men's leading position is also considered. Women are generally held responsible for domestic work, making them less likely to benefit from labour markets and educational opportunities than males. However, within the framework of the evolution of economic thought and development, economics emerged as a separate discipline following the Second World War. Some changes in women’s labour and pertinent views about it have occurred. The impact of women's labour on development has begun to be grasped. In all these contexts, in this study, the socio-economic and cultural advancement and turn of women’s labour concerning the evolution of economic thought and development economics are investigated, and the place and magnitude of women's labour in development are discussed. © 2022, Sosyoekonomi Society. The study analyses the effect of scientific and technological performance on GDP. Pedroni Cointegration Test, Vector Error Correction Model, and Granger Causality Analysis are applied to 21 OECD member countries for the 2003-2016 period. As the result of the analysis, it is determined that there is a long-term relationship between R&D expenditures used in the concretization of scientific and technological performance, the number of patents applied for innovation, and GDP. Further, the relationships’ directions are determined from patent applications to GDP and GDP to R&D expenditures. © 2022, Sosyoekonomi Society. Smith is the pioneer of the recognisance of economics as a social science. Thanks to the invisible hand mechanism, Smith argues that all economic activities in markets have no shortage of state intervention thanks to perfect competition. Markets consistently and spontaneously come to equilibrium at the full employment level via that. However, this mechanism is a myth, learned worldwide for years. Since the historical process, the state has always been at the stage in the constitution of a market order in economies. However, the underlined roles of the state have evolved correspondingly with the evolution of economic theories. In this context, the economic theories that have specified the general framework of economics are discussed in this paper. Eventually, it is concluded that the state always remains at the forefront of economies as a mechanism that backs up the formation of the market economy. Further, the process of COVID-19, which is expected to licking a new shape to economic theories, has also been investigated very briefly in this connection. © 2023, Sosyoekonomi Society. Classical economics is described as the science of distribution. However, the extent to which science prioritises distributional dynamics is debatable. On the other hand, after the marginalist revolution in the 1870s, the birth of neoclassical economics led to the separation of economics from social sciences. Pure economic logic has separated the economy from society, politics, and all kinds of social factors and put it into positive sciences that operate with an autonomous mechanism within itself. In this way, it is thought that it is aimed to exclude the secrets that can question the structural depth and distribution dynamics of the capitalist system. In all these contexts, the ideological-based reproduction and depoliticisation process of classical and neoclassical economics will be discussed within a historical materialist framework. Thus, it is thought that it will be possible to reveal the theoretical and ideological realities behind the visible faces of classical economics, characterised as classical political economy and neoclassical economics, known as mainstream economics. © 2024, Sosyoekonomi Society. Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are expected to leave their mark on the future. In the study, the effect of AI on employment and productivity is carried out using panel data for the 2002-2021 period for the ten countries that use the relevant technologies the most, and the Vector Error Correction Model, cointegration, Granger and Toda-Yamamoto causality tests. As a result of the analysis, a long-term positive relationship is determined between patent applications, R&D expenditures, high-tech product exports, and employment and productivity representing AI technologies, and according to the Toda-Yamamoto causality test results, there is a relationship between proxy variables representing artificial intelligence technologies and employment and productivity. It is concluded that there is” a multi-directional causality relationship. © 2025, Sosyoekonomi Society. All rights reserved.
