Staff transportation two way on the belt conveyor
    (Technical University of Kosice, 2013) Yýlmaz A.I.; Büyükyýldýz G.; Ekici A.; Çalýk M.; Önder Ö.; Aksoy C.O.
Wide range of systems has been developed in order to transport coal miners to their working locations safely as well as quickly and efficiently Among these systems, making use of a coal dispatching belt conveyor system for man riding is an alternative technique. Undoubtedly the most significant subject that comes out while performing the man riding is to take all the mine safety precautions to eliminate the accident risk. In this article, bidirectional man riding by belt conveyor, which is located in between + 374/ + 49 levels, slope of 16°, and 1230 m length main decline, was carried out for the first time in Turkey by Imbat Mining Co.Inc.'s Eynez Colliery Furthermore, besides the features of the bidirectional man riding system, the mine safety precautions that were taken to fulfill this transportation safely were explained.

Drilling and blasting applications at T.K.İ aegean lignite corporation (E.L.İ)
(Technical University of Kosice, 2014) Yılmaz A.I.; Akpınar Ç.; Güneş B.
The drilling and blasting operations are important in mining applications. Specialized and experienced staff and institutions increase the quality, productivity and safety of the work. There are very large amounts of explosives are used in Aegean Lignite Enterprise each year. The analysis of drilling and blasting practices and the costs are presented. In this paper, the drilling and blasting applications were compared with before and after 1999. © 2014, Acta Montanistica Slovaca. All rights reserved.

Risk Management for Surface Plants in Mines using Risk Matrix and BowTie Analysis
(Technical University of Kosice, 2023) Ozfirat M.K.; Ozfirat P.M.; Yetkin M.E.
Surface plants in mines are important parts of a mine operation. There exist offices, common areas, repair and maintenance shops, compressed air facilities, hydraulic facilities, areas where mine machinery and parts are stacked, transportation cranes and mine stock areas in surface plants. Therefore, while the mining operations are continuing, it is necessary to control all the work in the surface plants in terms of work safety and health. In this study, the risk matrix method is used to identify and prioritize the risks of surface plants in a mine. Then, the highest priority risk, which is found to be "Stock area and work environment", is considered using bowtie analysis. Four threats are determined for "Stock area and work environment" risk. These are improper ore or coal stock area, insufficient lighting in night works, lack of maintenance of field crane and dusty work environment. These threats are also modelled using bowtie analysis. As a result of this study, these threats, corresponding barriers and consequences can be managed by safety and operational engineers. © 2023 by the authors.
