We assessed differences between groups (NIU unrelated to BD and positive for HLA-B51, BD-related uveitis positive for HLA-B51 and BD-related uveitis negative for HLA-B51) in terms of long-term ocular complications, visual acuity (VA) measured by best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), anatomical pattern, occurrence of retinal vasculitis (RV) and macular edema over time.ResultsRecords of 213 patients (341 eyes) were analyzed. No differences in complications were observed (p = 0.465). With regard to VA, a significant difference was detected in median BCVA (p = 0.046), which was not maintained after Bonferroni correction (p = 0.060). RV was significantly more prevalent in NIU-affected patients who tested positive for HLA-B51, irrespective of the systemic diagnosis of BD (p = 0.025). No differences emerged in the occurrence of macular edema (p = 0.99).ConclusionsPatients with NIU testing positive for HLA-B51 exhibit an increased likelihood of RV throughout disease course, irrespective of a systemic diagnosis of BD. The rate of complications as well as VA are comparable between NIU cases unrelated to BD testing positive for HLA-B51 and uveitis associated with BD. Therefore, it is advisable to perform the HLA-B typing in patients with NIU or retinal vasculitis, even in the absence of typical BD features.Item Comprehensive Analysis of a Large-Scale Screen for MEFV Gene Mutations: Do They Truly Provide a Heterozygote Advantage in Turkey?(MARY ANN LIEBERT INC) Berdeli, A; Mir, S; Nalbantoglu, S; Kutukculer, N; Sozeri, B; Kabasakal, Y; Cam, S; Solak, MFamilial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is a hereditary autoinflammatory disorder characterized by episodes of inflammation in the absence of high-titer autoantibodies or antigen-specific T cells. The Mediterranean fever (MEFV) gene located on chromosome 16p13.3, which encodes the 781-amino-acid protein pyrin, is the causative gene for this monogenic Mendelian disease. This study presents the molecular analysis of an MEFV gene mutation screen of 5518 Turkish individuals with clinical diagnoses of FMF. Patients were genetically diagnosed using the FMF StripAssay and DNA sequencing analysis. Contrary to the results achieved by the FMF StripAssay, DNA sequencing analysis identified large-scale coding and noncoding novel sequence variants, together with a significant group (76%) of individuals who were receiving colchicine and had a single heterozygous mutation, despite the recessive inheritance of FMF. In conclusion, sequence analysis, unlike other routine laboratory techniques, may enable screening for a broad range of nucleotide variations and may prevent less common, population-restricted, novel sequence variants from being overlooked.Item Evaluation of Heterozygous Deletion of TP53 Gene in Pleural Fluid Samples: A Case Series of 11 Patients(DERMAN MEDICAL PUBL) Dirican, N; Bagci, Ö; Uz, E; Ozturk, Ö; Bircan, HA; Dirican, AWe described heterozygous deletion of tumor protein 53 (TP53) gene in 11 patients including 2 patients with non- malignant diseases (pneumonia) and 9 patients with malignant diseases [including small cell lung cancer (n = 3), non-small cell lung carcinoma (n = 4), non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (n= 1), and gastric carcinoma (n= 1)]. Chromosomal aberrant status was analyzed by fluorescence in situ hybridization with centromere specific and 17p13.1 locus specific probes. In 3 of 9 cancer patients we did not find malignant pleural effusion with histological examination and/or closed pleural biopsy. Heterozygous deletion of TP53 gene was found to be significantly higher in patients with malignant disease when compared to the patients with benign pleural fluid. As a result, we suggest that heterozygous deletion of TP53 may have indicator value for malignancy; however further studies are warranted to confirm this suggestion in large patient cohorts.Item Synthesis, single crystal structure, spectroscopic characterization and molecular properties of (2E)-3-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-1-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one(ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV) Kumar, CSC; Quah, CK; Balachandran, V; Fun, HK; Asiri, AM; Chandraju, S; Karabacak, MA novel (2E)-3-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-1-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (DCPDMP) compound has been synthesized and its single crystal has been grown by slow evaporation technique. The structure of the compound has been characterized by FT-IR, FT-Raman and single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The optimized molecular structure, vibrational wavenumbers, corresponding vibrational assignments of the compound have been investigated by means of the density functional theory. The molecule crystallizes in triclinic system, space group P-1 with a = 7.6179 (7), b = 8.5023 (7), c = 12.1967 (10) angstrom, V = 764.39 (u) angstrom(3) and two molecules in the unit cell. The crystal structure is primarily stabilized through intramolecular C-H (center dot center dot center dot) Cl and C-H (center dot center dot center dot) O hydrogen bonds and intermolecular C-H (center dot center dot center dot) O and weak CH (center dot center dot center dot) pi interactions. These inter- and intramolecular interactions are analyzed. Moreover, the molecular electrostatic potential surface of the molecule has been constructed. Global and local reactivity descriptors and dipole moment (mu), static polarizability (alpha), first order hyperpolarizability (beta) and optical gap (Delta E) have been also calculated to study the nonlinear optical (NLO) property of the title compound. In recent years, there has been an increased demand to improve product quality while lowering processing times, ex-penses, and energy usage in the drying process. Pre-treatments are therefore effectively used before drying to enhance heat and mass transfer, increase drying efficiency, and lessen degradation of final product quality. When food is dried, changes are expected in its taste, color, texture, and physical, chemical, and microbial properties. This has led to the need for research and development into the creation of new and effective pre-treatment technologies including high-pressure processing, pulsed electric field, ultraviolet irradiation, and ultrasound. Sound waves that have a frequency >20 kHz, which is above the upper limit of the audible frequency range, are referred to as ultrasound. Ultrasonication (US) is a non-thermal technology, that has mechanical, cavitational, and sponge effects on food materials. Ultrasound pre-treatment enhances the drying characteristics by producing microchannels in the food tissue, facilitating internal moisture diffusion in the finished product, and lowering the barrier to water migration. The goal of ultrasound pre-treatment is to save processing time, conserve energy, and enhance the quality, safety, and shelf-life of food products. This study presents a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of ultrasound, its mechanism, and how the individual effects of ultrasonic pre-treatment and the interactive effects of ultrasound-assisted technologies affect the drying kinetics, bioactive components, color, textural, and sensory qualities of food. The difficulties that can arise when using ultrasound technology as a drying pretreatment approach, such as inadequate management of heat, the employment of ultrasound at a limited frequency, and the generation of free radicals, have also been explained.Item Can self-monitoring blood glucose control decrease glycated hemoglobin levels in diabetes mellitus(LIPPINCOTT WILLIAMS & WILKINS) Özmen, B; Boyvada, SThe development and progression of diabetic complications is strongly related to the degree of glycemic control. To decrease the occurrence of these problems, instruments for self monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) control have been developed and have become widely used among diabetic patients. In this study, the authors determined the effect of SMBG control on glycated hemoglobin (HbAld levels in type 1 and type 2 diabetic patients. Three hundred fifteen diabetic patients agreed to participate in this study and attended 8,hour training program that focused on what diabetes is, meat planning, physical activity, life behaviors, foot and dental care, complications, and infections of diabetes. Two hundred fifty-nine diabetic patients (21 with type I diabetes mellitus [DM] [group 1], 238 patients with type 2 DM [group 2]) all received glucometers and education on SMBG through an additional 2 hour training program. HbA(1c) levels were measured at baseline and at 6 and 12 months in all patients. The other 56 patients (all type 2 diabetic patients) did not use glucometers for SMBG control and were considered our control group (group 3). Thirteen of the 21 patients with type 1 diabetes used an intensive insulin protocol and eight used a continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion pump (CSII). Overall, the HbA(1c) levels were slightly lower at the 6 and 12,month checkups in the type 1 patients, but the decrease was not statistically significant (p = 0.23). However, the HbA(1c) levels in the CSII group were significantly lower at 12 months (p = 0.04). Conventional insulin treatment was used in 65 of the 99 patients with type 2 diabetes (non-obese) whereas 34 were treated with a combination of insulin and acarbose. In both of these groups, the HbA(1c) levels were slightly diminished at 6 and 12 months, but these decreases were not statistically significant (p = 0.26). Of the 80 obese (body mass index [BMI] > 30 kg/m(2)) patients, 30 were treated with orlistat and metformin, 30 with sibutramine and metformin, and 20 with metformin only. The levels of HbA(1c) in the two multi-medication groups were not significantly different from those of the metformin-only group (p = 0.35). The mean levels of HbA(1c) at the 6 and 12 month checkups in the control group patients did not change (p = 0.92). Implementing a program of SMBG control in DM patients results in lower levels of HbA(1c) at 6 and 12 months in only some DM patient groups. This intervention was especially effective in patients using a continuous subcutaneous insulin in fusion pump. However, in group 1 and group 2, the decrease of the level HbA(1c) was not statistically significant, and no decreases in the HbA(1c) levels were seen in the authors' control group (education only). SMBG results in better glycemic control as reflected by lower HbA(1c) levels; however, cost-effectiveness studies and longer-term clinical studies should be performed to determine the effects of SMBG on glycemic control, morbidity, and mortality.Item A Case of Henoch-Schonlein Purpura with P369S Mutation in MEFV Gene(KOWSAR CORP) Ertan, P; Tekin, G; Sahin, GE; Kasirga, E; Taneli, F; Kandioglu, AR; Sözeri, BBackground: Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) is the most common vasculitis of childhood. HSP can affect multiple organs presenting with a characteristic rash in most of the patients. Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is an inherited inflammatory disease common in mediterranean populations. HSP is the most common vasculitis seen in children with FMF. Case Presentation: A 16 year old boy was referred with history of abdominal pain lasting for 20 days. He was hospitalized and had appendectomy. Due to the persistence of his abdominal pain after surgery he was admitted to our hospital. His physical examination showed palpable purpuric rashes symmetrically distributed on lower extremities. Abdominal examination revealed periumbilical tenderness. Laboratory tests showed elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein and fibrinogen. Urinalysis revealed microscopic hematuria and severe proteinuria. The fecal occult blood testing was positive. Based on these clinic findings, the patient was diagnosed as HSP with renal, gastrointestinal tract and skin involvement. We performed DNA analysis in our patient because he had diagnosis of vasculitis with severe symptoms and found that he was carrying heterozygote P369S mutation. Conclusion: Our case is noteworthy as it indicates that it may be important not to overlook presence of FMF mutations in patients with a diagnosis of severe vasculitis.Item Reliability of mechanical properties of induction sintered iron based powder metal parts(ELSEVIER SCI LTD) Çivi, C; Tahrali, N; Atik, EReliability and safety are important for machine and construction elements. In this study, iron based powder metal parts (3% Cu, 0.5% Graphite and 1% Kenolube lubricant by weight) were sintered at 1200 degrees C by medium frequency induction sintering mechanism (30 KW powered and 30 kHz frequency). Mechanical property values of components were determined according to changing sintering time. Three point bending, % maximum strain, MicroVickers hardness (HV) and Rockwell-B hardness tests were applied. Statistical distribution functions were drawn and ultimate strength, ultimate strain, MicroVickers and Rockwell-B hardness values were determined depending on various reliability. As a result of the experiments, it was concluded that, the hardness of powder metal materials should not be based on MicroVickers hardness. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.Item Validity and Reliability of the Turkish version of the Severity Measure for Specific Phobia - Child Form According to DSM-5(KARE PUBL) Sapmaz, SY; Erkuran, HO; Ergin, D; Ozturk, M; Sen Celasin, N; Karaarslan, D; Koroglu, E; Aydemir, OObjective: This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Severity Measure for Specific Phobia - Child Form according to DSM-5. Method: The study group consisted of 50 patients treated in a child psychiatry unit and diagnosed with any specific phobia and 100 healthy volunteers. For the assessment, the Screen for Childhood Anxiety and Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) was used along with the Severity Measure for Specific Phobia Child Form according to DSM-5. Results: For reliability, Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated to be 0.96t Test-retest correlation coefficient was calculated r=0.750. As for construct validity, one factor that could explain 74.1% of the variance was obtained, which is consistent with the original structure of the scale. As for concurrent validity, the correlation coefficient with the SCARED in children is r=0.480. Conclusion: It was concluded that the Turkish version of the DSM-5 Severity Measure for Specific Phobia - Child Form can be utilized as a valid and reliable tool both in clinical practice and for research purposes.Item Investigation of Antimicrobial Resistance, Biofilm Production, Biofilm Associated Virulence Genes and Integron Genes of Pseudomonas aeroginosa Isolates Obtained from Animal Clinical Samples(ISRAEL VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOC) Ocak, F; Turkyilmaz, SThe results of antimicrobial treatment in Pseudomonas aeroginosa infections may depend not only on the antibiotic susceptibility of the etiologic agents, but also on the biofilm production and integron carrying capabilities of the bacteria. This study aimed to examine the relationship between antimicrobial resistance and biofilm production, biofilm related virulence genes, integron genes carried by P. aeroginosa isolates obtained from different animal clinical samples. A total of 67 P. aeroginosa isolates obtained from bovine mastitis, canine otitis and dermatitis cases were used as material. Bacterial identification was carried out using conventional methods. Qualitative (Congo Red Agar Test (CRA)) and quantitative (Microplate Test (MP)) methods were used to determine the phenotypic biofilm production capacity of the isolates. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to confirm the genus and species level identification of the isolates, and to identify biofil-massociated virulence genes and integron genes. The resistance patterns of the isolates against 12 antibiotics belonging to 6 antimicrobial families were examined using the disk diffusion method. Isolates resistant to at least three drug classes were defined as multi-drug resistant (MDR). The Chi-Square (chi 2) test was used to compare the relationship between the MDR capacity of the isolates and biofilm formation, the prevalence of biofilm-associated virulence genes and the prevalence of integron genes. It was determined that 41.8% of the isolates as by qualitative method and 64.2% by the quantitative method were biofilm producers. The genes responsible for biofilm formation, ppyR, pslA and pelA, were detected in 94.0%, 83.6% and 65.7% of the isolates, respectively. 23.9% of the isolates carried the integron gene. Piperacillin tazobactam and ceftolozane tazobactam were found to be the most effective drugs against P. aeruginosa isolates studied. 28.4% of the isolates were MDR. As a result of this study, it was determined that MP was more effective than CRA in determining biofilm production phenotypically. While there was no significant relationship between MDR capacities with phenotypically biofilm formation, the prevalence of ppyR and pslA virulence genes, the relationship between the prevalence of pelA virulence gene and the presence of integron genes, was significant.Item FT-IR and FT-Raman, NMR and UV spectroscopic investigation and hybrid computational (HF and DFT) analysis on the molecular structure of mesitylene(PERGAMON-ELSEVIER SCIENCE LTD) Kose, E; Atac, A; Karabacak, M; Nagabalasubramanian, PB; Asiri, AM; Periandy, SThe spectroscopic properties of mesitylene were investigated by FT-IR, FT-Raman, UV, H-1 and C-13 NMR techniques. The geometrical parameters and energies have been obtained from density functional theory (DFT) B3LYP method and Hartree-Fock (HF) method with 6-311++G(d,p) and 6-311G(d,p) basis sets calculations. The geometry of the molecule was fully optimized, vibrational spectra were calculated and fundamental vibrations were assigned on the basis of the total energy distribution (TED) of the vibrational modes, calculated with scaled quantum mechanics (SQM) method and PQS program. Total and partial density of state (TDOS and PDOS) and also overlap population density of state (OPDOS) diagrams analysis were presented. C-13 and H-1 NMR chemical shifts were calculated by using the gauge-invariant atomic orbital (GIAO) method. The electronic properties, such as excitation energies, oscillator strength, wavelengths, HOMO and LUMO energies, were performed by time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) results complements with the experimental findings. The results of the calculations were applied to simulate spectra of the title compound, which show excellent agreement with observed spectra. Besides, frontier molecular orbitals (FMO), molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) and thermodynamic properties were performed. Reduced density gradient (RDG) of the mesitylene was also given to investigate interactions of the molecule. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. GINA develops and publishes evidence-based, annually updated resources for clinicians. GINA guidance is adopted by national asthma guidelines in many countries, adapted to fit local healthcare systems, practices, and resource availability. GINA is independent of industry, funded by the sale and licensing of its materials. This review summarizes key practical guidance for primary care from the 2022 GINA strategy report. It provides guidance on confirming the diagnosis of asthma using spirometry or peak expiratory flow. GINA recommends that all adults, adolescents and most children with asthma should receive inhaled corticosteroid (ICS)-containing therapy to reduce the risk of severe exacerbations, either taken regularly, or (for adults and adolescents with mild asthma) as combination ICS-formoterol taken as needed for symptom relief. For patients with moderate-severe asthma, the preferred regimen is maintenance-and-reliever therapy (MART) with ICS-formoterol. Asthma treatment is not one size fits all; GINA recommends individualized assessment, adjustment, and review of treatment. As many patients with difficult-to-treat or severe asthma are not referred early for specialist review, we provide updated guidance for primary care on diagnosis, further investigation, optimization and treatment of severe asthma across secondary and tertiary care. While the GINA strategy has global relevance, we recognize that there are special considerations for its adoption in low- and middle-income countries, particularly the current poor access to inhaled medications.Item Vibrations of stretched damped beams under non-ideal boundary conditions(INDIAN ACADEMY SCIENCES) Boyaci, HA simply Supported damped Euler-Bernoulli beam with immovable end conditions are considered. Approximate analytical Solution of the problem is found using the method of multiple scales, a perturbation technique.Item Vibrations of a Slightly Curved Microbeam Resting on an Elastic Foundation with Nonideal Boundary Conditions(HINDAWI LTD) Sari, G; Pakdemirli, MAn investigation into the dynamic behavior of a slightly curved resonant microbeam having nonideal boundary conditions is presented. The model accounts for midplane stretching, an applied axial load, and a small AC harmonic force. The ends of the curved microbeam are on immovable simple supports and the microbeam is resting on a nonlinear elastic foundation. The forced vibration response of curved microbeam due to the small AC load is obtained analytically by means of direct application of the method of multiple scales (a perturbation method). The effects of the nonlinear elastic foundation as well as the effect of curvature on the vibrations of the microbeam are examined. It is found that the effect of curvature is of softening type. For sufficiently high values of the coefficients, the elastic foundation and the axial load may suppress the softening behavior resulting in hardening behavior of the nonlinearity. The frequencies and mode shapes obtained are compared with the ideal boundary conditions case and the differences between them are contrasted on frequency-response curves. The frequency response and nonlinear frequency curves obtained may provide a reference for the choice of reasonable resonant conditions, design, and industrial applications of such systems. Results may be beneficial for future experimental and theoretical works on MEMS.Item Effect of alarm treatment on bladder storage capacities in monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis(INFORMA HEALTHCARE) Taneli, C; Ertan, P; Taneli, F; Genç, A; Günsar, C; Sencan, A; Mir, E; Onag, AObjective: Despite a great number of studies, very little is known about the mechanism of action of enuresis alarm systems. Nevertheless, as a result of this treatment many children are able firstly to wake up before urination occurs and then, in time, to sleep through the night without voiding. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of enuresis alarms on bladder storage capacities. Material and Methods: A total of 28 children aged >7 years who were not polyuric but who voided once every night, slept alone in their own bedroom and who were willing, along with their family members, to cooperate were recruited. Patients were asked to record their urine output using a frequency/volume chart for two consecutive days. After these records and the results of physical and laboratory examinations were taken into consideration, treatment was instituted with the bell-and-pad ( alarm) system for a period of 12 weeks. At the end of this period, patients were asked to complete another frequency/volume chart. Results: The pre- and post-treatment maximum functional bladder capacity was 178.35 +/- 87.86 ml and 243.03 +/- 102.84 ml, respectively and the pre- and post-treatment mean day-time bladder capacity was 111.11 +/- 45.87 and 148.445 +/- 7.68 ml. Both of these differences were statistically significant (p < 0.0001 and < 0.0001, respectively). The maximum nocturnal bladder capacity was found to be increased from 177.85 +/- 84.95 to 255.25 +/- 124.52 ml after treatment (p < 0.0001). The effect of size, foundation, and magnetic field on the nonlinear vibration motion of microbeam has been examined. The governing equations related to the nonlinear vibration motions of the microbeam are obtained by using Hamilton's Principle, and the Multiple Time Scale Method was used to obtain the solutions for the governing equations. The linear natural frequencies of microbeam are presented in the table according to nonlinear parameters and boundary conditions. The linear and nonlinear natural frequency ratio graphs are shown. The present study results are also compared with previous work for validation. It is observed that length scale parameters and magnetic force have a more significant effect on the natural frequency of microbeams. It is seen that when the linear elastic foundation coefficient, the Pasternak foundation and the magnetic force effects increase, the ratio of nonlinear and linear natural frequency decreases.Item High-Resolution Melting Analysis for Screening of Turkish Germline Mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2(AKAD DOKTORLAR YAYINEVI) Purcu, DU; Karaca, B; Kapkac, M; Ozdemir, N; Uzunoglu, S; Uslu, RThe germline mutations of breast cancer susceptibility genes 1 (BRCA1) and 2 (BRCA2) are the two most frequently mutated genes in inherited breast and ovarian cancer. Among the most known mutations in these tumor suppressor genes are 5382insC and 185delAG in BRCA1 and 6174delT in BRCA2. The aim of the current study was to investigate the frequency of these BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations in Western Turkish population. Twenty-five women with a history of self breast cancer and family history, 25 women with a familial history of breast cancer in their first degree-relatives and five healthy women formed the studied groups. DNA from peripheral blood was extracted and analyzed by high-resolution melting (HAM) analysis. None of the 50 patients and five healthy individuals was found to carry 185delAG mutation in BRCA1 and the 6174delT mutation in BRCA2. But, we found the 5382insC mutation in exon 20 of BRCA1 in five patients, having a strong family history. Four of these five patients were from the same family. Our preliminary results indicate that penetrance of 5382insC mutation in BRCA1 mutations is dominant in Turkish population; however, it seems there might be some other genes that contribute more significantly to familial breast carcinoma in Turkish population in BRCA.Item Mutations of BRCA1/2 Genes in the West of Turkey and Genotype-Phenotype Correlations(CLIN LAB PUBL) Gun-Bilgic, D; Aydin-Gumus, A; Bilgic, A; Cam, FSBackground: Mutations of the BRCA1/2 genes are associated with increased breast and ovarian cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the founder mutations of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes in the Turkish population in the Aegean region as well as their genotype-phenotype correlations. Methods: All the patients were provided with BRCA1/2 testing criteria according to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. QIAseq Targeted DNA Panels were used for the BRCA1/2 coding regions. Results: Of the 181 studied patients, 38 (21%) were found to carry pathogenic or likely pathogenic mutations, while 20 (11%) patients were found to carry variants of unknown significance. The most common pathogenic mutations were NM_000059.4:c.2765dup in the BRCA2 gene and NM_007300.4:c.981_982del and NM_007294.3:c. 5266dup in the BRCA1 gene. p.Lys3326* was the most frequently detected variant of unknown significance (6/ 181). Regarding genotype-phenotype correlations, the NM_007300.4:c.981_982del mutation in BRCA1 gene was found to be milder in terms of breast cancer. The most frequent cancers other than those related to BRCA genes, observed in the relatives of the patients who had pathogenic variants and variants of unknown significance, were endometrium cancer and leukemia, respectively. Conclusions: NM_007294.3:c.5266dup was found to be a candidate founder mutation in the Turkish population. NM_007300.4:c.981_982del mutation seems to have a milder course in terms of breast cancer. The relation between MEFV mutations and chronic inflammatory diseases hos been reported previously. Methods: Children with IBD (334 ulcerative colitis (UC), 224 Crohn's disease (CD), 39 indeterminate colitis (IC)) were tested for FMF mutations in this multicenter study. The distribution of mutations according to disease type, histopathological findings, and disease activity indexes was determined. Results: A total of 597 children (mean age: 10.8 +/- 4.6 years, M/F: 1.05) with IBD were included in the study. In this study, 41.9% of the patients had FMF mutations. E148Q was the most common mutation in UC and CD, and M694V in IC (30.5%, 34.5%, 47.1%, respectively). There was a significant difference in terms of endoscopic and histopathological findings according to mutation types (homozygous/heterozygous) in patients with UC (P <.05). There was a statistically significant difference between colonoscopy findings in patients with or without mutations (P=.031, P=.045, respectively). The patients with UC who had mutations had lower Pediatric Ulcerative Colitis Activity Index (PUCAI) scores than the patients without mutations (P=.007). Conclusion: Although FMF mutations are unrelated to CD patients, but observed in UC patients with low PUCAI scores, it was established that mutations do not hove a high impact on inflammatory response and clinical outcome of the disease.
