Item Attention deficit and hyperactivity symptoms in children with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis; [Monosemptomatik nokturnal enürezisi olan çocuklarda dikkat eksikliǧi ve hiperaktivite bulgulari](Kare Publishing, 2010) Ertan P.; Gönülal D.; Söǧüt A.; Yilmaz Ö.; Bozgül A.; Dinç G.; Aydemir Ö.; Yüksel H.Aim: Monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis in children may cause psychological and behavioral problems. The aim of this study was to assess symptoms of attention deficit and hyperactivity in children with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis. Material and Method: Fifty-seven children (23 male, 34 female) with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis and 57 healthy controls (25 male, 32 female) aged 6 to 12 years participated in the study. Conners' Parent Rating Scale-48 (CPRS), a 48-item multiple-choice questionnaire, was completed by the mothers to identify the attention deficit and hyperactivity symptoms in children. Results: Mean age of the children with enuresis was 8.54±2.18 years and that of the control group 9.12±2.13 years. Attention deficit score in the enuretic group was significantly higher than that in the control group (p=0.02). Hyperactivity scores were not significantly different between the groups (p=0.36). Bedwetting frequencies were not different between enuretic children with and without attention deficit or hyperactivity symptoms (p=0.06). Conclusions: Psychological and behavioral assessment may be indicated in children with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis since the results of this study demonstrate increased attention deficit symptomatology.Item The evaluation of the boundaries of the ability to manage behaviour and perception of the legal meaning and the consequences of act of the students according to a scenario-based study; [Senaryoya dayali{dotless} bir çali{dotless}şma ile öǧrencilerin da vrani{dotless}şlari{dotless}ni{dotless} yönlendirme yeteneǧi ve eylemin yasal anlam ve sonuçlari{dotless}ni{dotless} idrak etme si{dotless}ni{dotless}rlari{dotless}ni{dotless}n deǧerlendirilmesi](2013) Uluçay T.; Aşirdizer M.; Sunay Yavuz M.; Gökhan Dizdar M.; Zeyfeoǧlu Y.Objective: The aims of this study were to determine the differences among the limits of the ability to manage behaviour and perception of the legal meaning and the consequences of the act with a scenario-based study over the students ages between 10-18 in the primary and secondary schools; and to investigate its interactions with environmental factors. Material and Method: The results of the questionnaires, which were filled out by 969 students were evaluated in this study. The descriptive characteristics of the students who attended this research were defined. For each scenario, the rates of "expected responses" were determined for each question. Results: From 1.8% to 29.2% of the students did not have the perception of what is "true or false" or the perception of what is "crime or not crime". From 1.9% to 66.1% of the students did not have foresight about the legal meaning and the consequences of the act. The environmental factors did not seem to affect them. Conclusion: The ability to manage behaviour and perception of the legal meaning and the consequences of the act for attributed crimes to every under-18-year-old child should be evaluated in special units and special juvenile courts.Item Psychometric characteristics of turkish version of parental attitudes towards childhood vaccines (PACV) scale; [Ebeveynlerin çocukluk aşilarina yönelik tutumlari (PACV) ölçeğinin türkçe sürümünün psikometrik özellikleri](Galenos Publishing House, 2020) Çevik C.; Güneş S.; Eser S.; Eser E.INTRODUCTION: Vaccination hesitation is an important public health problem that has increased in recent years. The aim of this study was to determine the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Parenting Attitudes towards Childhood Vaccines Scale (PACV). MATERIALS and METHODS: This methodological study was conducted between January-May 2019 with parents of 0-59 months old children (n = 211) who applied to Balıkesir University Health Application and Research Hospital Children's Polyclinic. PACV scale consists of 15 items in four dimensions: behavior, attitude, safety and effectiveness dimensions. Internal consistency (using Cronbach's alpha value) was used in reliability analyzes, structural validity (known groups and confirmatory factor analysis) and discriminant validity were used in validity analyzes. In the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), the Comparative Compliance Index (BSI-CFI) and RMSEA were used. In the analysis, SS SPSS version 21.0 for Windows program and Lisrel 8.54 statistical package programs were used. RESULTS: 68.2% of the parents were women, 85.3% had sufficient income perception and 68.7% had only one child. The mean age was 30.84±5.15 for parents and 3.24±1.63 for children. Floor and ceiling effects of the scale are within the desired limits. Cronbach's alpha value of the scale was 0.676. Test-retest results are good (ICC: 0.93, p: 0.001). In the explanatory factor analysis, KMO was 0.77 and the total explained variance was 57.41%. In the Confirmatory Factor Analysis, compliance indicators are good (X2 / sd: 1.87, RMSEA: 0.0652, CFI: 0.949, NFI: 0.90). The scale was found to be discriminant according to the validity of known groups. CONCLUSIONS: The PACV scale is a valid and reliable scale adapted to the Turkish population. Parents' Attitudes towards Childhood Vaccines Scale is sufficient and satisfactory in terms of distribution, measurement ability, internal consistency and model fit. Total correlation after overlap correction was found below 30 in questions 7 and 14 and the results must be interpreted with caution. © 2020, Galenos Yayincilik,. Our aim was to assess the relationship between behavioral characteristics, family attitudes in children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), and the dietary adherence and glycemic control. Method: Fifty-four patients T1DM patients and 47 controls aged 7-18 years were included in the study together with their parents. Among the patients diagnosed with T1DM followed in the Pediatric Endocrinology Outpatient Clinic, those with high HbA1c levels (with poor dietary compliance) and those with a HbA1c level below 7.5 (with good dietary compliance) were included in the study as the patient and control group, respectively. A psychiatric assessment interview was conducted with both groups. Sociodemographic data and information on diabetes-related variables, Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire and Parental Attitude Scale scores were recorded. Results: We have found higher standard diet application rates in patients compared to regular carbohydrate count. The patient group had higher odds of neglecting blood glucose measurement, insulin doses, and a history of stress before decompensation. The rate of psychiatric diagnosis was 26.2%, similar to the general literature, and combined diagnoses were less frequent. Hospital admissions and hypoglycemic episodes were observed at a higher rate in the group that had problems in dietary adherence. Compared to those with good dietary compliance, patients in the dietary non-adherence group had a higher level of parental control and poorer parental perception of their children’s peer relationships. Conclusion: To reduce the risk of acute complications of the disease and to prevent long-term chronic sequelae, it is important to identify positive and some negative behavioral characteristics of child and parental attitudes. Parental role is among the key factors in supporting the autonomy of the child in ensuring dietary compliance. © 2021 Yerkure Tanitim ve Yayincilik Hizmetleri A.S.. All rights reserved.
