Abstract
Social work is a unique profession with its efforts to improve the welfare of individuals, groups, families and communities under oppression. In this respect, social work education and practice draw attention to the social and environmental factors that create and contribute to the problems in social life. In this context, the quality of social work education is based on two principles, theory and practice. The aim of such education is to provide theoretical knowledge to the social worker and to up-skill to perform. In this process, field instruction plays a critical role. In Turkey, the infrastructure of social work education was created by the United Nations in the late 1950s. Since the beginning, the concept of social work practice has been the subject of many discussions and these discussions also continue in relation to social work field instruction. This chapter discusses the challenges and problems experienced in social work field instruction in Turkey. In this context, structural issues; consultancy and supervision; performance evaluation and education/training indicators; record keeping, reporting and remittance issues are addressed. © 2022 selection and editorial matter, Rajendra Baikady, Sajid S.M., Varoshini Nadesan, and M.
