Abstract

Daniel Bernoulli is a member of the Bernoulli family, which includes three generations of famous physicists and mathematicians. He learned the methods of the basic sciences from his family. Also he studied medicine and applied mathematical physics to his medical studies. His doctoral dissertation was about the mechanics of breathing. This work was the first application of the principles of calculus to solve a biological problem. The multidisciplinary education of Daniel Bernoulli help him to produce his famous book called Hydrodynamica which proposed Bernoulli's equation. Hydrodynamica was about the basis of the physics of fluid mechanics and energy. Also he discussed the basis for the kinetic theory of gases in that book. Bernoulli's equation describes the effects of changes in pressure energy, kinetic energy and potential energy of liquid flowing in pipes. This law has created a non-invasive method for physiologic research and cardiovascular diagnosis.
