This study deals with Karaferyeli M. Garâmî, generally referred to as Garâmî, a divan poet of the sixteenth century. Apart from being a poet, Garâmî at the same time was knowledgeable about music, remil (geomancy), and calligraphy; and thus was quite a unique personality. In this study, emphasis is placed on certain works like two of his poems dealing with crises arising from shortages of bread and firewood during his lifetime. These poems indicate that the poet was always interested in the daily public life of his society and the folk poem. After giving information about his ideas and position regarding these crises, the study presents some texts about the poet written by Aşik Çelebi and other tezkire writers.
