This article bears substantial similarity to a previously published paper: Artificial neural networks in renewable energy systems applications: a review, Soteris A. Kalogirou, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Volume 5, Issue 4, December 2001, Pages 373–401. DOI: 10.1016/S1364-0321(01)00006-5. One of the conditions of submission of a paper for publication is that authors declare explicitly that their work is original and has not been submitted to nor appeared in another publication elsewhere. As such this article represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and apologies are offered to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission or review process. © 2018, Elsevier Ltd
