Abstract
AIM: To evaluate the relations between family planning knowledge, parity characteristics and educational level of women who admitted to family planning policlinic of Ahlat Government Hospital. STUDY DESING: Study was carried out between the dates 18.02.2005 and 13.12.2005 with 300 consecutive participants who admitted to family planning policlinic of Ahlat Government Hospital. Questionnaire were applied to participants by the method of face to face conversation. SPSS 11.0 package program was used for statistical analysis. Level of statistical significance was determined to be p<0.05. RESULTS: Regarding active method usage, marriage age, unplanned pregnancy and parity statistically significant difference was determined between the educated and non-educated group. P values were p=0.002, p=0.013, P=0.000, p=0.000 respectively. Before admittance to our policlinic most preferred family planning method was coitus interruptus (40.7%). After policlinic service, this preference left its place to intrauterine device usage with a 55.0% request from participants. CONCLUSION: Data we obtained brings up the conclusion; educational status is a very important criteria in effective family planning services. We suggest that, for a better result in family planning, public can be enlightened with educative activities.
