Abstract

A morphogenetic approach is necessary to state precisely the characteristics of a species and its evolution. This approach is based on a semi-quantitative analysis of morphological features. This analysis is possible only on significant populations which are generally difficult to be obtained in all sampling levels along a section. Moreover, such a study requires observation of a the growth series in which all development stages are represented in significant number of individuals. In this study, the morphogenetic evolution (growth series) of Triassic platform conodonts from Greece, Paragondolella polygnathiformis, Metapolygnathus abneptis abneptis and Metapolygnathus abneptis spatulatus, has been determined by main morphological features.
