Abstract

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a nonsulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) found ubiquitously in the extracellular matrix of all mammalian tissues. HA has important roles in cell growth, adhesion, migration and differentiation. It has dynamic roles in the extracellular matrix of normal reproductive canal tissues, uterus during the menstrual cycle, reproductive system tissues and fluids during the fertilization process, blastocyst implantation process, and structure of the placenta and cervix during pregnancy and during delivery. This chapter will focus on the effects of hyaluronic acid treatment in maintaining the physiological pregnancy in preclinical studies. © 2021 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. All rights reserved.
