Abstract

Myoma uteri, one of the commonest benign tumor of uterus, is a common indication of hysterectomy. The most common operation performed in gynecology is hysterectomy. The 75-80 % of hysterectomies are performed abdominally. Vaginal hysterectomy is superior in terms of morbidity, duration of hospitalization, and cost effectivity. Although enlarged uteri (250 gr or size equal to 12 weeks gestation), considered by some to contraindicate the operation, we performed vaginal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingoopherectomy, and cystorectocele repair. Our case indicates that uterus enlargement is not a contraindication for vaginal hysterectomy. We consider that the ratio of vaginal approach will increase by the experience and the education.
