dc.description.abstractThis paper presents a new process for rhamnolipid production from olive oil mill effluent (OOME) by a bacterial strain Pseudomonas sp. A01 isolated from olive oil mill contaminated soil. A biodisc reactor traditionally exploited for waste treatment was used for the production of rhamnolipid. The employed medium contained 10% OOME plus NaNO(3). After optimal physiological conditions were reached using batch culture techniques, they were applied for biodisc reactor. The yield and rhamnolipid production determined at 72 hours of incubation in the biodisc reactor were 0.69 x 10(-9) g/total cell and 0.115 g/L, respectively.
