Radionuclide therapy and imaging, have made remarkable advances in the recent years. Instead of performing invasive procedures to diagnose a patient’s problem, many different imaging modalities are used. With the increasing use of radiation and radioactive materials as part of these imaging modalities, the danger of radiation has become more and more of a concern. Organizations such as the International Committee on Radiation Protection and the National Nuclear Regulatory Board publish guidelines for the safe transport and use of radioactive materials to minimize radiation hazards. This article will describe the current regulations for the safe transport and packaging of radioactive materials. © 2023 The authors.
