In this study, morphological and anatomical features of two varieties of Phlomis pungens Wild. (P. pungens Wild. var. pungens and P. pungens Wild. var. hispida Hub.-Mor.) were investigated and compared. In addition, glandular and eglandular hairs were examined and classified. We observed that hair types of the two varieties were different. Both varieties of P. pungens had Type I capitate glandular hairs while Type III capitate hairs which had a cup-like head cell were only present on P. pungens var. hispida. © 2011 Academic Journals.
