dc.subjectMedicinal plants have been a priceless source of medication in nearly all cultures and societies worldwide due to the presence of phytochemicals and their wide range of therapeutic potentials including antioxidants. In this study, the methanolic leaf extracts of Doronicum orientale and Echium angustifolium were screened for antioxidant activity and quantitative phytochemical analysis using LC-ESI-MS/MS. The study revealed that the D. orientale exhibited significantly highest total phenolic content as well as highest antioxidant activity in all tests. The quantitative phytochemical analysis using chromatographic analysis revealed significantly high content of hesperidin, chlorogenic acid, hyperoside, protocatechuic acid, gallic acid and quercetin in D. orientale, while E. angustifolium had rosmarinic acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, p-coumaric acid, caffeic acid, vanillic acid, pinoresinol, syringic acid and luteolin-7-glucoside in higher contents. The results showed that the methanol extract of D. orientale could be an alternative source of natural agents in the management of the oxidative stress.
