There are many common characteristic among the oral cultural products of nations all over the world. The differences and similarities between oral cultural products enable the appearence of motif oriented studies. There are many motifs around the world that have universal usage. One of them is the motif that emerges as being humiliated or humiliate which has a universal usage. Although it has so common usage, in Turkish Epopees any studies have not been done about the motif of being humiliated or humiliate until today. This situation that emerges as a result of searching for someone's disabilities and weaknesses within a community and causes a person to be excluded from the population, comprises one of the basic motifs that cause a series of actions to appear when it is the subject of epopee heroes in epical narrations. Epopees are the narratives of heroism that mention the success, unity and integrity of a society based on individual. In these works, ideal heroes who make a bid for society exist rather than the heroes coming into prominence with their human features. So, in epopees `being humiliated or humiliate of the hero is only possible when counter response appears. When it is used alone, humiliation which is identified as scorning or underrating, and has no contribution to progress of the narration can only be evaluated as a motif when it starts an action after itself. In this sense the humiliation motif is a feracious motif' and integrates with a variable motif that emerges after itself. In this article emphasis is put on humiliation motif in Dede Korkut narrations which is one of the important works of Turkish culture. First, the concept of word is identified and then it is discussed whether it could be a motif or not. Subsequently, the episodes that cause the humiliation motif in Dede Korkut narrations to appear and emerge as a result of this motif are determined, and a structural analysis is performed by considering the frequency of usage in narrations. In this study it is attempted to determine the usage of humiliation motif which is a universal motif through Dede Korkut narrations and the values highlighted in Turkish culture through motif is detected.
