In this study, the statistical optimization of the leaching parameters of aluminum hydroxide extraction from bauxite waste (red mud) was investigated. The extraction parameters were solid-to-liquid ratio, base concentration, reaction temperature, leaching time, and stirring speed. Optimum experimental conditions were carried out by the Taguchi method. A higher dissolution rate was found to give better performance characteristics. The most important parameter was determined using the statistical analysis of variance. (c) 2017 American Institute of Chemical Engineers
