Abstract

Aydin accountantship was founded at the end of 17 th century. The main objective of this accountantship was to collect the Iltizam taxes of Miri mukattas units and to deliver these to the national treasure and thus increasing income of the state. Managerially, Aydm accountantship was not confined to the bounds of Aydin Province. It comprises not only Aydm Province but also some Miri mukattas such as Teke, Alfiiye, Mentese and Saruhan provinces. Those people who were allocated to be accountantship were influential in Ottoman Bureaucracy. It was usually seen that Accountantship were selected from those at the level of Vizier in Ottoman Bureaucracy. Some historians of that age mentioned that incomes of this accountantship were quite high and most statesmen of the age intended to utilize these high-level incomes of Aydmn Accountancy.
