Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to investigate the yearly changes in the water quality parameters and phytoplankton groups at two stations at Dem Harbour (Candarli Bay) near to places where fish farms discharge their waste waters. In this research which is the first study realised in this region, water samples were collected from the inputs and outputs of fish farms located in the selected stations at around 15 days time intervals during 1 year, between December 1994 and 1995. In order to determine the water quality, nutrients; nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, silicate, phosphate and other physico-chemical parameters such as, Chla, P.O.C., Phaeopigments, temperature, pH and salinity are measured. Concentrations of nutrients were low and their effects on the phytoplankton dynamics are studied.
